"But then sitting next to me would be a dodo who got in because of unfair means .... that is what pisses me off."
Tell me Puttoo where in India you would find 1-2 dodos in 10 and the rest at par /better than yourself , do you not feel that the proportion of dodos working with you in Canada is much higher ?

Good point about competition with 1 billion people and one cricket team. Going by your logic, we should have been getting tons of gold medal in olympics ... it is not happening. How come this " competitve spirit" is not paying us there. The reason is not that we dont have talent or we dont have competition, the problem is that the system has been screwed up so much that is just fails to function.
As far as infrastructure is concerned, the population factor should make it easier to work out. Look at telecom sector - since we have a large base of population, India was able to overcome this problem. There is no waiting times for phones, no bribing the lineman, no fudging the phone bill ...... when the system was able to work on its own it was able to function and provide a world class service at very affordable prices. How come we are not able to replicate the same in other sectors? What stops the changes that were made to telecom sector be made in power sector also. The problem is there are groups / organisations in India who are scared of losing their base. They are the ones who are doing more harm to India, then the guys who have moved out of India.

We sacrifice our professional ethics and culture to get what ........ some materialistic benefits .......... better roads and transport and lose the basic values with which we were brought up with ............. here > 60% population is in live in no marriage / multi marriage relationships so much so that this is acceptable here as much as almost all people having sex at an age of 16-17 ...... and then the associated problems .................... this is something which we knew to be wrong and abstained from and now it becomes 'right' and acceptable due to prevalence here . Same for drugs and alcohol. How would you feel when your daughter is sleeping with her boyfriend with no marriage assurances at an age of 17 ?
In India the proportion is very less maybe >10 % and not acceptable in the society.
here to be more precise here girl start at 12, 17 is too late man

Sacrifice professional ethics and culture? You're kidding me! Like I said before, that's you, not me. I haven't sacrificed any of those things, on the contrary, I have gained a broader perspective about both after migrating.
I don't understand your fixation on daugthers and boyfriends. Is that your only measure of culture? What do you call a family of gangsters, muderers and extortionists in which the daughter got married at the age of (put your ideal age here) and did not sleep around prior to that? Cultured?
My religion, which I am freely allowed to practise in Canada, tells me that as a parent my job is to provide the best value/belief system I possibly can for my child at home and introduce her to the same outside. Beyond this, the result is out of my control. This applies regardless of what country I raise my children in. And I take comfort in the fact that out of a dozen cousins who were born and brought up in NA, none of them justify your fear.
In the end, it comes down to accountability. Will you take issues like population, corruption, wayward children, crime and just blame it on the country? Or will you introspect to find out what you could've done differently?
