A very good write-up on how Indian middle class fair in present times. With stagnant growth, over the roof inflation, and low number of jobs available for B.Techs/BEs/MBAs, and other Graduates, they are feeling the heat now, coupled with a little return on their investments.

Just something I wanted to share.

I think there is a better option for Cds.

I have decided to take retirement at age 60, if I am still alive. Then spend 5 months (Nov to March) in India and the rest in Canada. I would bear with Canada till then (and Canada would have to bear me !)

I left India for Canada for my kids' education. Had there beeen so many private colleges as are now, probably I would not have left India. My kids have above average IQ but considering the hellish system of reservation in India, I thought they would be better off getting educated in Canada (though it did not turn out so, but it is a different issue)

I think so long as MMS/Sonia rule India, situation would keep getting worse and hence to make a permanent move is out of question, at least for me. Another option is to move to a state like Florida or Arizona with warm/hot climate. That way, one can escape Canada and still be close to kids/ grand kids.

There is another possibility also. With demise of America, there is a chance that China would succeed in dismembering India with a little help from MMS/Sonia. (Likely scenario is Arunachal goes to China, the rest of North East except Assam becomes a Christian country, Assam gets merged in Bangladesh, BiMARU states form a BIMARU country, Kashmir goes to Pakistan, Tamilnadu becomes Karunanidhi Country and the rest of South India another country. Maharashtra and Gujarat become a separate country). If that happens I would gladly go back to Gujarat and convince my kids also to move to Gujarat. Only time would tell.

Nightmare ji, have you ever considered getting a job in pentagon for the position of a 'war gaming analyst'?

The super computer will simply turn into a Pentium 2 computer. ;)

Its a scenario that definitely can come to play.

Like today's.

With the debt crisis in Eurozone, AAA credit downgrade (US), lost decades in Japan.

Today the $$$ are with the ROP states of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Qatar and of course, China with $3.3tr.

Did anybody ever anticipate [20 years ago] - that China will have $3.3tr

Thanks.

A proliferation of mediocre to low quality engineering/business schools, who treat education as business rather than focussing on academics can also be blamed in increase in unemployment. And given almost no social security net, I shudder what would happen should India face same recession as US. However, given the "internal demand", I think it won't be as bad as US.

Having been exposed to both Indian and Canadian university, I now realise the stark difference between the quality of education and the infrastructure (or absence of it) between Canadian and Indian universities. A cursory look at the question papers available on Gujarat university's website indicates how easy it is to pass even a master's level exam.
