Our $$ is doing very well against USD. I dont know how this will impact the canadian economy.
In terms of Rs it has crossed 40. Good for those sending money home (including investments).

Last year, around late summer or fall, I read some analyst report stating that $ will touch 90c in few months and cross 95c in late '06-early07 timeframe.
I did'nt beleived it.
But with next interest rate hike expected later this month, I won't be surprised.
Only 33% CDs believe that it will cross $1 US in near future. When I posted the poll it was 0.87. Today it climbed 3 cents.
10 more cents to go!!
Let us see what happens.

I'm developing some sort of feelings that this might impact some jobs which had been passed to Canada from their southern neighbour. I mean it might have an impact unlike a drastic overnight change.
Also, I speculate, the poor exchange rate maintained by US is intentional in a way to support the local manufacturing market and push more exports.
Though the Iraq war and few other facts might be cited to this arguable exchange rate, I continue to think it doesn't really matter at this point and US economy continue to remain strong as ever.
I strongly beleive this exchange rate should relect in the Gas Pumps around Canada, but I would suspect there will be any imminent reaction from the Retailers / importers who benefit out of this immediately.
Those who stashed their savings in US Dollars and looking to convert in future for any sort of investments in Canada might be one of the affected people (Includes me).., Do you folks think there may be an offing fundamental change in the exchange . Though it may not yield any benefit to a common person like me but it does to some one.
I'm just trying to get rid of this "Johny come lately" situation before the exchange rate worsens further.
