decent punjabi's post got me worried too
I called the cic call centre and was told that the processing of parents ' sponsorship has slowed down and is now at 34 months. They are currently processing applications of May 2007 as the website states. Decent Punjabi must have got lucky!

I am confuse,,,, CIC website say :
Parents and Grandparents May 23, 2007
but as per your say " Application Received : Oct 9, 2008" means u'r application process time is faster ?
May i ask you when did you actually sponsor your parents ?
I sponsored Oct 2007 and nothing Yet

BF,
I was confused too. Recently I learnt that CIC forwards the file "electronically" to the embassy of country of origin for some formal paperwork [and background check]. This is different from manually submitting the file [by the parents] to the embassy [of country of origin] after the case has been approved by the Mississauga office.
Hope this helps.
Yes, we are both saying the same thing, the electronic submission does not eliminate the manual submission part...

Hi guys,
Today I called CIC toll free no to check my parents application status.
I explained to the lady that CIC website is showing that they started processing the application on April 16th,2010 (I submitted in OCT 2008) and automated messaging system is saying that they had forwarded the application for processing to the nearest visa office of my relatives. I asked the lady why the status differs (website Vs. automated answering)?
She verified the system and told me that this was due to a system glitch they had and she confirmed that my file is still untouched and they are doing files received in May 2007 right now.
So, I am not so lucky here, have to wait another year or so before they can get to my parents file.
Tc, Bye.

Hi Decent Punjabi - Tussi kidda likhyea majja aagaya
I thank you very much for the update – I am sorry to know that it was system glitch and u hv to wait another year.
For my side, your update gives me big relief, I started getting worried that other people files are going forward and my file is still pending – but now I am clear.
Again, I really thank you for your honest reply
