Adam just out of respect I will not comment . Less you know in this regard better it may be . Rest assured I am not the one who made mockery of my loved ones , India and Indians on different forums like RFD .
Its sad and unfortunate that sometimes one has to stoop to the level of person you are dealing with .

NewDes,

I hope you realize in a public forum ( as well as a Public Library) , all kind of thoughts are catered to ...

You may be an intellectual and I may be not , you may be a millionaire and I may be not ... obviously our needs and reads and posts on the forum ( or for that reason the books we want from the library) would be different.

Who am I and for that reason who are you to say that posts are useless / fall below your expectation as long as the basic forum rules are respected ...

I for one and I m sure there are many others have been visiting this site now for for more than 10 years and have learnt a lot and some of that lot comes from TKs posts as well as Hiren's posts or SS's post ....

TKs free stuff / soup banks / freebies may not be appealing to you (or me ) but that certainly is information that is not a waste and someone or the other may find it handy.

And for that reason every one's posts may have something to learn from ... depending on our interests.

And I can assure you that TK would have posted a lot of helpful material which would have actually helped new immigrants as opposed to your 56 'class' posts .

it is just that the guy posts & shares frankly on the forum what you and I would keep under wraps (but still think and some times act on)

This by no means is supporting the leg pulling or bickering or any unethical suggestions that happens but relates to the usefulness found in some of his posts .

To land a full-time job, you need to have the right combination of education, experience, skill set, communication skills, plus so many other factors among a vast pool of applicants. My observations, as noted previously, are based on what I have seen over the last couple of years among people from highly diverse background and experience.

Average turn-around time for a job application is around 3 months from the time you apply to the point when the position is filled but the good news is someone does get the job. Finding a job is a slow and painful process, again in my opinion.

People do succeed and land high paying jobs, I am not denying that.

If my post looks overly negative, please ignore.

Desis are good at hard skills , but they are very bad at soft skills..like communication skills, listening skills, body language, speaking up in meetings, presentation skills, expressing themselves in a precise & concise manner, breaking the ice, small talk, mixing with other races/cultures , people skills etc.

Lot of them also have a complex about their accent & pronunciation, when they come here. If you can put a FAKE accent well & good, but DON'T over do it.

In Canada your personality & communication skills are more important, than just putting your head down & working like a slave..or like a donkey. if you want to be more than a software coolie , and actually go into Management etc, desis should practice their SOFT skills & polish them before coming here.

Soft skills are NOT taught in Indian education system & critical analytical thinking is also not taught. Just exact sciences like Math, Physics, Chemistry only take you so far in life :(..you need to think outside the box too & need to socialise with the GORAS , and sometimes go to a bar, golfing, sking, skating etc with them.

Also DON'T just eat idly sambhar , dosa, chutney, curry , rotis , naan , rice, dal etc at work during lunch. Sometimes also eat pasta , pizza etc also at work..during Lunch.

Once in a while take a break from bringing lunch from home & go to Tim Horton's , Burger King , McDonalds, Subway,KFC,Pizza Pizza etc during your lunch break . For just 5 bucks or less you can get a reasonable lunch.

Know all the specials at the various fast food joints & only go there on those days to save money.

So for example only go to KFC on Tuesday , DON'T go there on any other day..and only eat their Toonie Tuesday Special for $ 2.99 - Leg piece, Thigh piece & Fries. :)

Goras will NEVER share their food with you , so DON'T share your food with them either..they make MORE than you, so DON'T give your hard earned food to them..LOL..they are cheap, they will eat it, but will never give you anything.

They also eat beef, which most desis DON'T eat , unless you are a Muslim ( Allahu Akbaar ) or if you are Christian ( INRI-Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum ) like our TK is :) ..so DON'T eat what they give you.

Sometimes Desis put too much oil on their head, that oil comes on your forehead & makes it shine, so go easy on the oil. Also use Deodrants & mouthwash, they are very cheap & only $ 2.00.

Don't speak in Hindi or Tamil, with other desis in your office, Goras will think you are talking about them , only speak in English with other desis, however bad your English might be . Don't stare at other good looking GORA women in your office, your wife will NOT like it & the GORA woman will also NOT like it...you will look like a pervert. A sexual harrasment case might be filed against you.

All these valuable tips will help you succeed in Canada.

Also go for a name that the Goras can pronounce easily.

So if your name is Babu Singh , tell them call me Bob. A day will come when even you will forget your real name & you will start calling yourself Bob :)

If you are South Indian and your name is Padmalakshmi Iyengar , you can be Pamela or Pam for short,

Paramjeet Singh Sidhu can be Paul :) ..put these names on your resume & they will call you for an interview.

BTW, Goras don't know the difference between Punjabis & other Indians ..they think ALL Indians are Punjabis..LOL.

They will also pronounce it as Poonjabee ..ha ha. So if you ARE non Poonjabee & they call you that, don't get offended...don't try explain to them Poonjaab is just one state in India, they won't get it.

Sometimes ignorantly a derogatory term like P A K I , might be used against you..but don't get insulted.
