Thanks Raj
do you mean the opportunities have lessen down?

You should not take any pointers from this forum , specially negative ones, to take the decision. The success in Canada is highly subjective topic. There is wide range of people who succeed in Canada, from unskilled trade people to highly skilled ones and then there are even best of the doctors, PhDs and engineers who struggle. Within IT and even finance I have seen even mediocre guys doing very well and at times have observed a skillful one getting laid off and struggling.
It depends on ones skill and its demand, your communication skills, past experience and adaptability plus little luck of being at right place.

If you ask me, your first focus should be to know whether you are eligible to apply for Canadian immigration. Do you qualify ? Have you analysed it online ? Are you aware of your NOC ? You are a graduate , that is already an issue. Your MBA husband will be a primary applicant, does he qualify ? please check.
Second focus should be credentials of your husband in Finance area. Finance is not my area but I am sure he will need to check on the certification requirements.

Struggle & Risk is imminent so are the benefits. . Canada is a beautiful country and far better a place than India to lead a life. Its a developed country and that is enough a reason to try an immigration.

Meenakshi,
As I have said earlier, your chances of suceeding in Canada is quite low. I will explain.

1. Your husband's experience will get him a job as a teller only ( $ 12 per hour). He should spend 8 hours standing in his job and also market the bank's financial products to client. It is quite hard to move up the ladder as lot of people are there. You will be competing with Russians and South Americans who are more white and are cut throat.

2. Your IT experience is not what people in Canada generally look for. They look more for developers and Project managers. So it may be hard for you to get a break.

3. Your son will enjoy it here but at what cost.

4. Thinking that you can secure a good retirement life here is a myth. For that you have to be in a job from age 18. You canot come at Age 35 and expect that you can retire like a king at age 58. It just is not possible. research more.

whether or not I should rely on consultant to apply for PR? (real expensive!!!)

Sorry to have missed answering your question.
In case you decide to come to Canada (which I donot recommend - since AK is your CM is one reason), please apply by yourself. Consultant is just the postman. There is only a very minor advantage of using a consultant (he may get you an interview waiver) but since you are in Delhi, that is not a problem at all.
I have heard that the consultant will ask you to fill all forms and bringing to him (that is the only most difficult part of the process) and then he will just send it to the embassy. For that he will swindle 2 or 3 lakhs from you.

Avoid him.
Any questions about filling, you can ask CD.

Murali.

Immigration consultants are middlemen who make money out of other people's lack of awareness & fear. I was once told by a Consultant that I would be fooling myself if I apply by myself. Well I did and got it quickly and swiftly

Immigration Application is a straight forward process. Consultants do not and cannot add any value to your case / processing if you do things simply and correctly yourself.

Chances are that you d file your Application more seriously & diligently than a Consultant since its your baby.

I have known cases spoilt by Consultants ( Network Engineers made to apply as Systems Analayst) and lots of shoddy delays as opposed to not even a single case in my knowledge which has failed when applied for personally.

Save your hard earned money - you won't get anything out of applying through a Consultant if you know & understand the process.

Hello All
While the primary question remains the same whether I am eligible and should move base to Canada;here's an insight to my career
I have 8 years of experience into ITIL service management processes (Incident ,problem ,change ,release management).I make around 6lacs per annum (INR)
My highest education is BBA
My spouse is Assistant Branch Manager in a Bank with 10 years of experience into financial sector (insurance/loan-mortgage/banking).He makes around 9lacs per annum (INR)
His highest education being MBA in marketing & finance.
We have a home loan as liability that we have for now.

We along with our son who is 5 yrs are thinking of migrating to Canada.
Why? because of son's future and our retirement benefits since private sector do not give us the opportunity to save for future.

I have spoken to Murali an lali from this forum and wanted to discuss with you all the anxiety that we are carrying before making a big move since we will put all our savings into it.
-how much chances of getting a PR looking at our profile?
CHECK OUT THE LATEST INFO ON IMMIGRATION (CANADA.GC.CA)
-does opportunity exist and achievable in both financial n IT sector with our kind of profile.
BOTH OF YOU COMBINED SHOULD BE MAKING AROUND 100K WITH IN 6 MONTHS IF FLUENT IN ENGLISH. THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR IT SUPPORT PEOPLE.
-whether we should re-think upon the plans
SURE
-how much cash n assets do we need to show during the process
SAME AS ANS 1
-how much shall we keep as a balance to survive during our period of struggle
CAD 15000/- OR SAY INR 7 LACS ... YOU MAY NOT USE THE WHOLE OF IT.
-does it actually gets better with time?
YES IT DOES IN YOUR CASE. IN YOUR HUSBAND'S CASE THE SOONER HE CAN RE CREDENTIAL HIMSELF HERE THE BETTER ..
-whether or not I should rely on consultant to apply for PR? (real expensive!!!)
NO. THAT WOULD BE A WASTE.
have many questions in mind but for now if I could get answers to above would really make a huge difference in my life
Thanks in anticipation :)

Good response, Fido.
Immigration consultants are just middle men. They donot even have a covering letter. Only thing is that they will put their name and address in a column so that all correspondence goes to them and they will redirect it to you. Though the govt. would not admit it, I found that if you apply through an immigration consultant, interview is mostly waived (2002 census)

Immigration lawyers do the same thing as above. However for complex cases, they will do extra documentation. That is the only advantage.

I remember one couple who wanted to go come to Canada urgently (he did the same labor job as me). So he was made to apply to Syria (where the waiting time was less) at a premium rate. He got it in 6 months (I got mine in 36 months). He had to pay for the flight tickets to self and family to attend interview at Syria.

Consultants and lawyers are for foolish illeterate people, who can't even fill a form. They are nothing but courier boys. If working hard means taking your hard earned money, then yes they are working hard.

They are just middlemen & more often than not your file is delayed bcoz of them as there is an extra step in between..LOL
