You changed track from test to one dayers..... anyway ... what you are mentioning is the 99-00 series .... his record after that with Australia as under

1) 2000-2001 Australlia in India Played 5 one dayers ...score 45/51/83/11/101
2) 2003-2004 (TVS cup) 102/21/18/22
3) 2003-2004 India in Australia VB series 16/103/106/1/24/5

From 21 one dayers he has played against Australia he has an average of 46.18 and has 4 centuries ... 2 in India and 2 in Australia...... thsi is after your famous 100 he made of edges in Sydney ...... we should be thankfull to Kapil and Sachin they included him in the team ..... his record against the Aussies has been the best .... he hasn't fared so well against other teams .....

Check your facts .......

Exactly !!!

Every player has favourite opposition but they should be atleast average against others.

You are right he has an average of 46.18 against the aussies ..... and an avg. of 5 against Bangladesh ....... think he should concentrate on his record against Bangladesh :D

Rightly, Laxman is not part of ODI team today. Ganguly should not be part of Test Team at least.

Numbers does not necessarily show correct picture. Numbers are like Mirage. Gotta Grow out of that.

Laxman was utter failure on that tour till that last inning in Sydney (which I think revived his career) where he scored 100+ after been dropped twice (at least) and bulk of his scoring was through 3rd man (edges). He was to return back after test series - Kapil & Tendulkar (captain) asked selectors to keep him around in ODIs and he failed even to reach two figures (not once). Funny enough, he was dropped for one match against Pak & India Won.

I would say Pathan is in the same Boat as Agarkar was.

I was responding to your this quote ... that after his century in Sydney was a fluke & he did nothing after taht ... here goes .....
This Sydney century was made on 18 Jan 2004 & India went on to win this match ..... the next match against Zimbabwe ... he again scored a century on 24 Jan ...... the score was 3 for 4 when he started playing ....... India went on to win ..... Then in Pakistan he made 107 in 104 balls with Shoib Akhtar playing ..... this was on 24 March 2004 ...... India won this match ..... he did not play the first match as you righly said & India won ... but he was instrumental in winning the last match & India won the series ...

Funny you shoud say that after the series against Australia Sachin & Kapil asked the selectors to keep him in One day squad ..... he had scored 2 test hundreds and scored two one day hundres in that series ..... stll selectors had to asked to include him in the team ....... funny

You sound Confuse here ... OK ... I was talking about Series of 1999-2000 ... Century in 2nd Inning of Last Test @ Sydney ... Kapil & Sachin asked Selectors for ODIs which followed after. He was total Failure in that ODI Triangular Tournament. Team India managed to Win only One Match - which Laxman did not play. I don't turn Pages but as far my memory goes - he did not go into double digit. You can check your score sheet.

I don't deny he was good player. But only in Patches. He does not stand chance now. He is one of those slow movers - captains face hard time hiding him.

BCCI should made a rule, play in 10 ODIs, underperform and go out of the team and sit home. Need of an hour is rigorous training and coaching in domestic circle, more glorification of domestic cricket with good number of sponsors, then we can have a world class players in Indian team. Not to forget a great bench strength.

Indian domestic cricket should be at par with the inter-state championships and playoffs of American games. Put some money into glorifying, promoting, and glamourising it. Even if it means copying the way Americans do the things. Get good and rigorous selection committee into Domestic and keep away all the political interference into it. Then only we can boast of a rich cricket team with real talent.

The message should be loud and clear - Perform or Out!!!

Well dont agree with it .... but for argument sake will take your suggestion of performance in last ten matches as benchmark for inclusion in Indian team.

now here are the figures for the batsmen in present one day squad.

1)Gautam Gambhir 10 (M) - 308 (Runs) - 30.80 Avg.
2)Dinesh Karthik 10(M) - 182 (Runs) - 30.33
3) Robin Uthappa 10(M) - 199(Runs) - 22.11

Now some players who are listed as "A".....
1) Rahul Dravid 10(M) - 294 - 49.00
2) Yuvraj Singh 10(M) - 369 - 46.12
3) M S Dhoni 10 (M) - 397 - 66.16
4) Sourav Ganguly 10(M) - 518 - 64.75
5) Sahin Tendulkar 10(M) - 310 - 44.28

Now you tell me who should be in the team .....You must look at Ganguly's figures especially ..... this is for sll those people shouting for him to be thrown out of Indian team .... in the last 10 matches he has played .... his score are as under .....68/62/DNB/48/58/66/89/7/32/88 ........ show me another player playing for India who has performed like this in their last 10 matches .... & has not found favor with selectors .....

everyone has a simple scheme for improving indian cricket ... perform or out ..... but right now the problem is who gets IN!!!!!!!

I remeber that on Sydney January 2-4 .... he scored 167 in a match when everyone elese failed miserably ....total indian score was 261 .... he did not perform in the one dayers & was dropped form Indian team ....

Then was picked for the team next year when Australia visited India (sahin begged the selectors) .... he scored match winning 281 on Mrach 18-22 2001 test at Kolkatta .... his performance in that series for test .....20/12/59/281/65/66 .... in the same one day series his scores were 45/51/83/11/101 ..... again you think sachin was wrong in asking the selectors to call him back
