Same old story ..... who are these youngsters the selectors should take risk with ..... you tell me when murli kartik or atul wasan came into the team .... they were also " youngsters" ... i can name a few doda ganesh , laxmi balaji, .... list goe on & on .... youngsters are being tried left right & centre ..... but the bottom line is they are not performing ...... look at karthik dinesh and robin uthappa .... they have forced players like Sehwag out of the team ..... he was vice captain of the team .... he did not perform ... out he goes ..... because there are people to fill his place ..... the day we have a viable solution for Sachin , Ganguly etc .... they will be out .... Australia is brimming with talent .... that is the only country which has a strong bench strength ..... Look at west indies .... they look like a county side ..... even Brian Lara could not save them .... thus he opted out

Our selectors have the habit of going with mediocre players, whose abilities and skills are limited but predictable, rather than taking risks with youngsters.
India and West Indies have similar problems - we depend on individual skills, rather than professional training.
West Indies was fortunate to have such a winning team from the mid 70s to the late 80s.
India had great teams in phases - Kapil's "Devils" during the mid 80s, then Azhar revived the team in the mid 90s.
Ganguly led a good team for a while.
On the other hand, Australia has been fairly consistent through the last 20 years.
Of course, now they are undisputed champions, but they have been very consistent.
South Africa has been consistent too.
New Zealand is a good example of what a team of faily mediocre, low-talent team can do with proper training and professionalism.
Right now, we probably can't even win a series against New Zealand abroad.
Our local and regional sports circuits are rife with regionalism, politics, red tape, etc.
Most promising youngsters never make it to the Ranji level in the first place.
Until we change that situation, we can't expect new talent to materialize out of thin air and replace retiring seniors.
Do you realize how lucky we were that we got Sachin and Kumble after the likes of Gavaskar, Amarnath, Vengserkar, Kapil, etc. had retired?
If Sachin and Kumble hadn't come along, Indian team would have disappeared without a trace.
I'm actually looking forward to Laloo becoming chief of BCCI.

Well i can give you a list of sports where as a nation of 1 billion we havent been able to find talent in
Hockey .... on international level ... when was the last time we won any tournament.
Football ..... we dont even figure in Asian level .... mind you football is one sport which does not require any equipment .... just a football, a field and a will to play ..... millions of people play this sport in India ... but we have not managed to field an international level player .... forget a team
Atheletics .... again all it requires is a ground and someone with a will to run .... still we havent found anyone to do it .....
I can go on and on listing evry sport we have not been able to produce good sportsmen ..... cricket is the only sport we have world class players .....
In India politics, movies and cricket is passion ..... nothing else matters ... is if any one of these is not doing well we show our resentment .... when was the last time we as a nation mourned a loss in hockey ......... as we do in cricket
