The mantra is simple, "Cricket should be played and marketed as a commodity"
That was the mantra for these Soccer leagues and other sports leagues in different parts of the world.
It is good even that Cricket has learnt this lesson now (even though a bit late), think of the industry (all these sporting leagues) that is being supporting in all respects. take any sport for example. Soccer/American sports/ Rugby/ ....etc. there is a huge industry that goes along with it and in many terms is generating a lot of revenue to Countries/respective Govts.
Just think why SA choose it host it (and jumped into it almost right away) , as soon as they learnt IPL was considered to be played outside India,
Because they saw the big bucks coming along with it. Estimated more than I billion SA rands or whatever , just in 7 weeks, can any country imagine that kind of revenue in such a short term and that too just by hosting it.
SA may not get it by its entire tourism revenue in a year.
Same is the case for any other country.
Such is the magnitude of these kind of Premier leagues, and rightly IPL stands out to be premier sporting event.
BUT all this is primarily because INDIA is involved in it. even a full year rugby league in England/Aus/NZ can not generate such revenue as series in cricket with India would do...
now I shut up.... not to bore you any more....
It is the business of sports...simple. Cricket has been bloody slow to catch up is all...

If you have a bank, you can rob everyone.

Take it as a business. Cricket is no different. Organizers and players are not playing it for the sake of it. They are in because of money, big bux.
One needs to change with time, otherwise extinction prevails. So, who wants Cricket to be extinct? It's still a gentleman's game. Gentlemen who make big bux.
The latest is that Vijay Mallya owning Royal Challengers Bangalore take in Yuvi for 14 Crores. He has already players like Virat Kohli in his team
But the sad part is the salary dues to his Kingfisher Airline employees for the last 17 months, amounting to nearly 460 crores is yet to be paid.
The airline employees on dharna say if only they were paid that 14 crores given for Yuvi, that could feed 15,000 members of the employee families for a month.
Kingfisher Airline also owe 7200 crores to Public Sector Banks which have financed their operations.
Yesterday, when AK filed criminal complaint against Reliance, Vijay Mallya had reportedly said that Industrialists must be treated with respect.

The supreme court has told BCCI that someone like Gavaskar should head the BCCI till the IPL issue is sorted out. Looks like Dhoni may be in soup due to conflict of interest since he is the VP in India Cements which owns Chennai Superkings and Srinivasan is the chairman of the company. The court will announce tomorrow morning its decision. The court wants Chennai Super Kings and Rajastan Royals to be suspended from current IPL.
No wonder Dhoni was hiding today in the world T20. He did not come to the mandatory press conference by the captain. Rohit Sharma came in for Dhoni. Why get it into s**t and then try to hide.
