एक बार पर्रीकर के छोटे पुत्र को ह्रदय संबंधी तकलीफ हुई. डॉक्टरों के अनुसार जान बचाने के लिए तत्काल मुम्बई ले जाना आवश्यक था. उस समय गोवा का एक उद्योगपति उन्हें विमान से मुम्बई ले गया..चूँकि पर्रीकर के बेटे को स्ट्रेचर पर ले जाना था, इस लिए विमान की छह सीटें हटा कर जगह बनाई गई और उसका पैसा भी उस उद्योगपति ने ही भरा. . पर्रीकर के बेटे की जान बच गई. उस उद्योगपति के मांडवी नदी में अनेक कैसीनो हैं और उसमें उसने अवैध निर्माण कर रखे थे. बेटे की इस घटना से पहले ही पर्रीकर ने उसके अवैध निर्माण तोड़ने के आदेश जारी किए हुए थे. . उस उद्योगपति ने सोचा कि उसने पर्रीकर के बेटे की जान बचाई है, इस लिए शायद पर्रीकर वह आदेश रद्द कर देंगे..काँग्रेस को भी इस बात की भनक लग गई और वह मौका ताड़ने लगी, कि शायद अब पर्रीकर जाल में फंसें. लेकिन हुआ उल्टा ही. . पर्रीकर ने उस उद्योगपति से स्पष्ट शब्दों में कह दिया कि एक "पिता" होने के नाते मैं आपका आजन्म आभारी रहूँगा, परन्तु एक "मुख्यमंत्री" के रूप में अपना निर्णय नहीं बदलूँगा. उसी शाम उन्होंने उस उद्योगपति के सभी अवैध निर्माण कार्य गिरवा दिए और विमान की छः सीटों का पैसा उसके खाते में पहुँचा दिया. . पढ़ने में भले ही यह सब फ़िल्मी टाईप का लगता है, परन्तु जो लोग पर्रीकर को नज़दीक से जानते हैं, उन्हें पता है कि पर्रीकर के ऐसे कई कार्य मशहूर हैं. चूँकि भारत की मीडिया गुडगाँव और नोएडा की अधिकतम सीमा तक ही सीमित रहती है, इसलिए पर्रीकर के बारे में यह बातें अधिक लोग जानते नहीं हैं. . 58 वर्षीय मनोहर पर्रीकर आज भी 16 -18 घंटे काम करते हैं. गोवा के मुख्यमंत्री रहते समय मुख्यमंत्री कार्यालय के कर्मचारियों को साँस लेने की भी फुर्सत नहीं मिलती थी. . एक बार पर्रीकर अपने सचिव के साथ रात 12 बजे तक काम कर रहे थे. जाते समय सचिव ने पूछा, “सर, यदि कल थोड़ी देर से आऊँ तो चलेगा क्या?”, पर्रीकर ने कहा, “हाँ ठीक है, थोड़ी देर चलेगी, थोड़ी देर यानी सुबह साढ़े छः तक आ ही जाना”. सचिव महोदय ने सोचा कि वही सबसे पहले पहुँचेंगे, लेकिन जब अगले दिन सुबह साढ़े छः बजे वे बड़ी शान से दफ्तर पहुँचे तो चौकीदार ने बताया कि पर्रीकर साहब तो सवा पाँच बजे ही आ चुके हैं. . ऐसे अनमोल रतन की परख करके नरेंद्र मोदी ने उन्हें एकदम सटीक भूमिका सौंपी है, वह है रक्षा मंत्रालय. पिछले चालीस वर्षों में दलाली और भ्रष्टाचार (अथवा एंटनी के कार्यकाल में अकार्यकुशलता एवं देरी से लिए जाने वाले निर्णयों के लिए सर्वाधिक बदनाम हो चुके इस मंत्रालय के लिए मनोहर पर्रीकर जैसा व्यक्ति ही चाहिए था. . यह देश का सौभाग्य ही है कि पर्रीकर जैसे क्षमतावान व्यक्ति के सुरक्षित हाथों में रक्षा मंत्रालय की कमान है. . जिस समय पर्रीकर को शपथविधी के लिए दिल्ली आमंत्रित किया गया था, उस समय एक “सत्कार अधिकारी” नियुक्त किया गया. जब अधिकारी ने पर्रीकर से संपर्क किया तो उन्होंने कहा, “आपको एयरपोर्ट पर आने की जरूरत नहीं, मैं खुद आ जाऊँगा”. . जब होटल के सामने ऑटो रिक्शा से सादे पैंट-शर्ट में “रक्षामंत्री” को उतरते देखा तो दिल्ली की लग्ज़री लाईफ में रहने का आदी वह अधिकारी भौंचक्का रह गया...!!!

From RESULT perspective , on lighter note , 67-3 was the result ! . Anyways that does not help the common man so I 'll keep a check on rhetoric. I am personally not satisfied by AAP's achievements, Not yet, they are on right path though , Way ahead of BJP and Modi if you will, but since my bar of satisfaction is bit higher so I'll keep watching without being fooled by the media. I 'll convey when time comes and it will come.

Here is the change/amendment to the Act:

"The government said that the amendments seek to rectify the current Act which has put the "entire onus" of getting compensation, fixing the responsibility for delayed services on the citizen. The Bill envisages entrusting a 'Competent Officer', person not below the rank of Deputy Secretary, with the purpose of effecting payment of compensation to an individual and recovery of the compensation from the officer or person responsible.
