Crenshaw,

You commented that an Economy could not be nascent if it had a high per capita income .

Facts as always at your service

Arab League figures showed the per capita income in Qatar stood at $29,948 in 2002, one of the highest levels in the world.

Check the Canadian per capita income here

So you do agree that Wiser had suggested a poll. U didnt tell y u were against it though . And neither did u give some numbers from your own knowledge bank .

Hey what were we discussing BTW ??

Apples and oranges Manasvi. You took the Canadian per capita income from 2000 and compared it with Qatar's 2002 estimate of per capita income.

Now have a look at the CIA figures!

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/qa.html
Qatar 2003 GDP - per capita = $21,500

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/ca.html
Canada 2003 GDP - per capita = $29,500

In your previous post you suggested that Qatar had a much higher per capita income than Canada! You got that wrong!

I have used the same source used for both numbers, both numbers are for 2003, not different years and both numbers consider Purchasing Power Parity.

I reiterate that Wisernow suggested a poll, not a repoll as you suggested. That was because he could not find the results of the previous poll. You seem to consider a repoll necessary because the numbers do not suit you.

I put out a summary of the results of the current poll in one of my previous posts. About 40% of immigrants said that they could not find jobs matching their qualifications, while about 18% said that they found one within the first one month of landing. Another 28% said that they found a job matching their qualifications within the first year of landing!

You've been maintaining for quite some time (based on your one week visit to Toronto) that 80% of professionals who come to Canada work in Tim Horton's. The results of the poll conducted on this website contradict that generalization.

Another poll conducted on this site suggests that 40% of immigrants are happy with their decision to come to Canada, another 20% were unhappy while 40% were somewhere in between.

The results of these polls represent the views of visitors to this website.

I quoted Canada's per capita income in response to the comment that you made that it was nascent AND underdeveloped.

You'd have to have a pretty warped mind to think that the Canadian economy is nascent AND underdeveloped!

BTW, the article from the gulf news that you quoted above said that Qatar had the highest per capita income of all Arab nations in the world rather than one of the 'highest' in the world.

This may be unintentional but the way you guys provoke people like me by following a pattern. One guy comes out and says Crenshaw must be unemployed or says share your experiences, none of the successful people is sharing their experiences on this forum. When I come out and do that another of the negative posters picks and says that "you are making your own example as standard for everyone".

Above by Crenshaw

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey Crenshaw, referring to your statement that *none* of the successful people…I am here picking on the word none...Please note that I have on this forum quoted my experience and what I believe to have been a successful start before. To summarize, when I landed, I wanted a job in the financial heart of Toronto, ie Bay Street. So I went downtown and trudged daily looking for a job. People told me I was nuts. I told them that I will land a job there w/in 3 months. Everyone laughed and told me that even after 3 years I won’t be able to land a job there, so what if I worked with Birla in the financial field in India. It didn’t count for zilch. Also I was 45+, something not in my favour. After 2 months of hard trekking, I landed a job right smack IFO The TSX in the Royal Trust building. The ass##@@% who had laughed actually sent one of the guys to ensure I hadn’t landed a security job, and to his surprise, I was in an office job in training to be a fund analyst.(To find out the salary of one, go to monster.ca and look up financial analyst to get a fair idea- considered excellent for a new immigrant).Anyway, I could again go on and on about the successive successes, but I do not wish to bore people, as I have already posted my story enough times.
Nothing, guys, is impossible to the determined mind, and my mind is f***ing determined and extremely goal-oriented. I came here to make a 6 figure income per year and make it I will by next year.
BTW, if you go go go, other favourable serendipitous events occur that only boost you more and more towards your goal. Many such things have occurred. The most recent is that I got a call from Vancouver the other day for something and I asked the person where she got my name and she said from the net. She had typed something in Google and an article of mine that The Star had printed showed up and so she contacted me by getting my number from Bell. Even though that is scary, what followed was extremely favourable, so I can’t complain.

Just keep hittin' hard, something will give.
BKB

S’apen Crenshaw,
I would also like to add here that even my wife was successful in finding what she wanted. When we arrived here, we did not want to leave our child alone at home as our child was below 12-the legal age to be left alone, so as I had landed a good well paying job, I told her to stick around at home for a few months until our child turned 12. But, my wife, being the professional she was, went ahead and hammered, and was able to land a job with Fujitsu, where she was allowed to work from home! The pay wasn’t anything to write home about, but the point I am trying to make is that if you are determined enough, you will find what you’re looking for. She was looking for a job in the IT field where she could work from home, never mind the pay, so she could be busy. She accomplished this on her own w/in 3 months, in a period when it was tough to find jobs in the IT field.Despite getting refusals on basis of no Can experience, she couldn't for one moment believe there was no company that could use her skills, so she just kept persisting (just like the Quixtar people- ok ok bad joke:D )
Please note I am not being a fanfaron, just informing people that if you really persist, you will find what you want. Just ne’er give in. Make the other give in.Also Fujitsu is a Japanese company, and from what I hear from my wife, does not ask for Canadian experience unless they have no other way of refusing a candidate.

PS - I was one of the first, if not the only, guys to protest against the asinine story of Ghulam Rasool that was posted here by Pramod Chopra. No story of a successful mama has been posted to temper that downer of a story, despite many promises by Garvo and D-P Jain and others.I also wrote a letter to The Voice to tell them that to counter Ghulam's story, they should publish a success story. They of course have.

People come to canada to make true thier dreams. However they get real cultural and life style shock when they come here. Only thoes who keep focused towards thier dreams despite the shock achieve thier dreams.

Cud u explain how did u read Jake's post differently from mine when he talks abt assuming 7/10 as seemingly apt nos .

Incidentally, Jake did make a post to the effect that he didn't necessarily think that the 7/10 was right, his post was deleted when the website had problems on Friday (therefore you will see a post from BL saying that he didn't know where Jake's post had gotten to).

Thats right Manasavi, I did make a post...apparently some posts were lost.
Basically what I said the last time was that I do not corroborate the numbers. However, for you, the numbers play an essential part of your decision making process. So they ARE real to you and you do need to heed them. You have accepted that you are average and identify with those who have not been successful here. Even 5/10 does not provide enough incentive for you to come here. You are looking to minimize your risk . Since I am looking at your attitude more than your educational qualifications and experience, I agree completely that you are better off wherever you are. I do hope that others like you will make the same decision.

*DISCALIMER*: I do not consider Manasavis attitude positive/negative/realistic etc. Its upto Manasavi to decide.
