Bheri gud idea!

GG / BL can probably in setting up a chatroom . It will further increase interaction between members and it will help cleanup the message posts from small minor posts which can be conveyed over a chat.

I would differ on this MI. With a chat room, we will deprive a lot of users (both active as well as silent) of this site from the discussions taking place. A few things that come to my mind are:

1. Education of active users - many posts bring in new things which even those persons who have been here for years do not know, or those who have been out of India for a long time, would like to know about happenings in India. A classis example is today's post regarding khussa! Other posts are like those considering citizenship/test/oath etc. Thru such discussions we keep knowing the latest, which otherwise will be lost in chat rooms and NEVER come to the knowledge of other active and non active users who were not participants of that chat.

2. There are many silent users of this site as is clearly evident - and reasons can range from nothing to contribute, to shy of putting forward a post. However, they do benefit a lot from this site presently, but with chat room, they will not be able to.

3. Many a times some topics do not come to one's mind, but once they see it on the charcha, they do contribute when they have time. This feature will be lost since even though charcha will remain there, many topics will die after one chat session and never get a chance to develop.

4. On a lighter side, the flavour of nok-jhonk will be lost!

5. Many important topics which might be relevant to a person later will never be available, which presently are available.

etc. etc.

I agree with Chandresh ji 100%.

Many a times these discussions prove beneficial to other non contributing members as well as active members. By starting a chat room, we would not these lively and sometimes educative discussions.

Thanks and regards

Chalo i'll let you take this one ...i see your point ...

but it was too much of nok-jhonk and washing dirty laundry in public because of which i thought a chat room also could help in sorting differences out between members instead of making a spectcle in front of the world ...and it will also help in leaving the message board with good objective messages meant to help all members..both vocal and silent members ....i dont think gain any knowlege in seeing other members noking-jhonking...:D
..of course some nok - jhonk will alway be there in discussions even with a chat room ... we are desis after all :D

but it was just a thot .... GG/BL can shed more light on this ...i wonder how other members feel . this remains a great site .wth or without chatrooms.

Chat room was not a bad suggestion, but then it has it's advantages and disadvantages.
The advantages are that a person can get first hand knowledge instead of waiting for someone to put a posting on a certain subject or else to wait a day or two for someone to answer.
The disadvantage is that the answer and the knowledge will not be shared by other members or visitors. Considering now we are over 5000 members any answer posted on CD is a BIG benefit to others.

Then how many chat room users actually stick to the important issues?
Personally i do not have the patience like others to chat. I would also detest anyone seeing my ID and then invite themselves to chat with me.
Sorry.

But if it is going to be of help then there could be one as 'PUBLIC' where any member or visitor can participate and read what is going on currently in the Chat Room.
In fact i also have a name for the chat room 'Baatchit '
