SHANGHAI, China — Chinese stocks hit a fresh high Monday as strong corporate earnings overcame the impact of the latest reserve requirement ratio hike.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ended up 2.2 percent at 3,841.27, its highest-ever close. The Shenzhen Composite Index rose 1.6 percent to 1,064.77, also a record closing high.

The market is closed the rest of the week for the Labor Day holiday, but may continue to climb after the break, with the Shanghai index likely to test the 4,000 level by mid-May, analysts said. The market reopens May 8.

Again wish to thank all the readers of this thread. I haven't posted anything for 3 days and still 71 views.

Been out of the saddle as the South Asian Month has kicked off and been covering a lot of events as in my other avataar as part time/freelance journalist.

On May 1, was a great fashion show for a bold new line from Alia Khan called Fusia downtown at Adelaide Street. Good stuff. No wardrobe malfunctions though. As they say- all hooks, linings and snickers in place!

All for the ladies. Available at The Bay, should you wish to have a dekko or maybe buy some.

Europe is up. DAX cracks 7500, France cracks 6000. Man taking a cue from the old song that 'I been down so very long, that it looks like up to me,' - The markets have been 'up so very long, that it looks like down to me.'

TSX and Dow are breaking records. Mexico also cracked 30,000.

When do you guys think Nasdaq will break its previous high?

How about Nikkei? When will it reach its high of almost 40,000 hit in 1989. It is still in the teens at 17,000 plus.
