I don't think this forum is a waste of time at all and I don't think we'll get anywhere by saying that.
But I do agree with DesiStud's viewpoint that it isn't exactly news that racism exists in Canada. Racism exists in EVERY single country in the world and Canada IS one of the most multicultural countries in the world.
Yes, we should highlight incidents of racism in Canada for prospective immigrants, but that should come with the acknowledgement that there aren't that many other countries in the world where so many races and religions live in so much harmony. In fact I can't think of any. Can you?
Please don't give me a roundabout answer, let me know if you can think of any other country like this where racism does not exist. I'm genuinly curious.

Hi
When I started working for my present company (sorry..I am not going to name it), I was given a form where I was told to specify my ethnic origin. I was told that this data is to be submitted to the Federal government since the government looks at these numbers before awarding contracts.
I believe this is an example of systematic racism that exist in Canada.

They prefer ethnically diverse companies..or that is what they say....

It's still not clear to me...why do you say that this is an example of 'systematic racism'? The govt is trying to ensure that all ethnicities are represented in the workforce right?

BL no one can claim that any country is free from racism. But don't you think it would be lil too much to discuss racism in all countries at this forum?
Racism in Canada have direct effect on our lives as we live in this country where as racism in other countries do not effect us directly. Did I make myself clear ?
Thanks and regards.

Bio, I'm glad we agree that there's racism everywhere in the world so the answer to my orignal question is a resounding "NO".
Do we agree though that given the amount of diversity in Canada, it is one of the least racist countries in the world? What are your thougts on this?
