I am not in IT.
At the time the thread was active (in 2005), I would have said Rs. 30000 a month (before tax). My classmates were earning between 30K to 45 K around that time (per month).
But then 2005 started the boom of India and the same classmates that I mentioned are now earning between 2 lakhs a month to 3 lakhs a month in India.
However, I would say 1 lakh a month (before taxes) in Chennai, 1.25 lakhs in bengaluru or 2 lakhs a month in Mumbai or delhi. Note that I will not make the same mistake that I did coming here and hence will fix a job in India before relocating.

Peace

However, in india the things are now a days becoming very very competitive. You need to be best among the best to get good growth and promotion.

Though you get a job in your related field in India but still it is very tough to work in that environment as lots of competition, peer pressure and ofcourse politics.

But still i would prefer that rather than doing the labor job here and just survive and having hand to mouth situation.

Here a labourer will always remain a labourer ( if and only if they study and lucky to get into some other field where there is growth). But in India if you are in your field you are bound to see growth / promotion in your career over a period of time which will be much more satisfying. Even though your earning may be less than what a labourer earns here.

I am no way going to sacrifise my qualification and change the line to stay in this country and get citizenship. I came here to get better value to my life and career.

Instead of fighting to survive here and work as Labourer, i would better fight and try to compete with the best of talents out in India.

You don't have to go the labor job route. Enroll in some specialist courses in Canada.

I am in IT.
The only city i would live in is Hyderabad.

I have lived in Mumbai for 19 years
Hyderabad 2 years
Pune 2 Years
Bangalore 2 years
Gurgaon 1 Year.

For Hyderabad i want to take 1 crore with me and i will settle for 1.25lakh per month after tax.
If i am not taking 250K then 2 lakhs per month to adjsut for mortgage rate.

Its much higher amounts for other cities which i wont get (based on my qualification)

Hyderabad is the best city of all these for working class. If you are rich class then Mumbai is the best.
This is just my personal opinion.

Just curious to know.
How much approx. money (per month) can be generated from 1 crore in India via secured investments (like banks FD or other investments which are almost as secure as FD)?

On a secured investment 10 %, mutual funds minimum 20 %, equity investment more than 30 %.

If a person has 1 crore or more, no need to go for jobs or work in "labour " jobs in canada.

How do you guarantee returns on mutual funds or equity investments?

How much is 1 crore? 100 lakhs or 1000 lakhs? Thanks.
