Recisim exists even in India. I worked in India from Canadian Company and my company wanted to br Head but the top man in Government organisation told my company that it is better to keep White person as company head in India. Just I want to say taht recism exists in all counries.

I dont know why people forget the universal truth.............
Canada is promoting Immigration..thats true....but it is we Indians + other Asians who land there in search for new life and better opportunities.........
When we know the truth that Canada is a white dominant society we cant expect equality......Original canadians feel that they belong to this place and others are aliens..............this attitude will remain........
The main reason being India is known as 3rd world poor country...few good men cant change the face of the nation.......hence we all suffer and get humiliated.............
We should not forget that we are going to their land.......they are not coming to us........hence they will have the superiority.......Immigrants are asked to get used to the Canadian lifestyle/society/culture etc...
Canadians are not asked to change and get adjusted to immigrants lifestyle...........right?
Racism is there...but unavoidable..........In the long run "Reverse Immigration" is the only time when reality will bite..........
Original white population is diminishing, Asian population is increasing.......in 50 years time or later....there will be a time when whites will be a minority and Immigrants will be majority......those days PM/ Ministers would be Chinese/Indians/Pakistanis.........oh sorry.........the landed immigrants..............who claim that they are Canadians but obviously look different........
This is the truth.........this has happened in India.......during the Caste discrimination days.....Brahmins used to RULE..........those days are gone.......now they belong to the poorer lot......
THATS THE RULE OF NATURE..........
We have to accept the reality...............

You are living on a positive hope but the big Q is, Are all the immigrants irrespective of the origin country think themselves to be one!
If change has to come it is Now or it will never come. Right now Canada has one father, if the situation you define ever comes true, Canada will have hundred fathers and problem will multiply by 100 not divide by 100.......re-think what you are saying. Canada has good days or worst days in store?

JEEZ! 'Original White Population'?????...do you mean the eskimos or the various indian tribes who settled this place long before Europeans?
The Europeans came here for trade and conquest. They persevered through determination. We landed immigrants from Asia come for economic reasons too and we persevere! The population changes from aboriginal+whites+ coloreds>mix, but the charter of rights has ensured that We have as much right to call ourselves Canadians if we choose to! Being white has NOTHING to do with being Canadian !
I am as Canadian as anybody else(or how much I choose to be). My desi heritage only enriches and is not a liability to either me or Canada. NOR is my race or color. Attitudes such as that of the above poster will only isolate one and keep one from integrating sucessfully and being a proud CANADIAN DESI!

I would like to share this piece of Canadian Sikh history.......
I had read few pages of sikh community struggle in Canada posted by a CD memeber on one of the thread. It described of struggle sikh / hindu community had to go through to earn the right to vote in Canada.
Earlier immigration had different rules for different origin immigrants. A chinese was required to have $100 fund to qualify as an immigrant where as an Indian origin was required to have multiple of this amount as fund.
During the world war period there was no direct sea carrier to Canada from India they had a rule that family member coming to Canada as a dependent was required to come by a direct carrier from the origin country to Canada to eliminate Sikh from getting their family to Canada.
The right of equality was earned by Sikh / Hindu through legal system in Canada. It was not offered to everybody landed on Canada as immigrants.

What are you trying to say?
Nobody is debating that there was inequality legally in the past. A friend has written a book on the subject...read the interview section under arts and culture! Women(white or otherwise) could not vote either...they had to fight for that right too.
That is besides the point.
Since the Charter of rights...I am as Canadian as anybody else. Claiming that you will never be one since you are not 'white' is now just a poor excuse for your own insecurities.
