I had about 5yrs of exp and education in the high end comp animation market in India, but could not get a break here so I went to http://www.dmc3d.com.
Since this is a thread regarding racism here is what happened to the 12 others who did the same course with me. I have classified the students according to race:

-1 white student who is now teaching at tha same place on a part-time basis

-1 native-american student who found a job in the industry after a year of completion of the course.

-2 Chinese students(student visa) who went back to china.

-1 student of chinese origin moved to hk with his parents.

-1 student of korean origin. The last I heard...looking for a job.

-5 WHITE CANADIANS, born and bought up here, still no job in the industry after 5 yrs!!! One wanted to sue the school. Another one of them who once passed some masked racist comments at me...went back to his labor job in a bottling plant. Towards the end of the course he constantly needed my help and I think having to ask me for the same, and receiving help from me, cured him of some ignorance

. I heard that it was his first visit to TO and his first real exposure to VM's. He was from somewhere in Saskatchwan.

-1 south asian student from India...Me....found a job in the industry in 3-4 months...still going strong after 5 yrs. About 6 mths ago I started(part-time) a production company making short films, documentaries, tv series based on south asian perspectives in Canada.

Just like to say to Jake congratulations on your achievments. At least there are some people who do not blame everything on racism. Or put pages and pages of statistics trying to prove a useless point, but successful people like yourself who are doing really well for themselves in society.p.s visted you website think it is great

Present day Anglo Canadians r too incompetent to compete with the South Asians and oriental. They are under-educated and overstriped (higher positions), innovation wise if nothing came from America, Canada would be nothing more than Newfoundlad, and that is economy wise. And how u gage them? At colleges and universities, u don't see them in large numbers according to their majority ratio and whatever u see just disappears in 2nd year. (don't confuse with anglo jewish people, most of them are "not friendly either".

Now this guy, when he drops out is going to land a job where u, the most technically competent will simply dream about it. So the Canadian (anglo) knows about it and hiring you means his own job survival is threatened.

Need proof? in early seventies, the Canadian $ was worth $1.10 U.S., today it is averaging 75cents (from 66 cents two years ago) not because it is stronger but the US dollar is weaker in currency market.

The immigrants can make this land highly competetive in the world if the economy comes in their hands. But.....

This is where and why the xenophobia comes in picture.

Racism can be a useless point to discuss for some of us, but I am sure this type of attitude does not put this issue on back burner. Further, discussing ( or not discussing) an issue does not reflect the achievements of a person in the society. If this is the case than Honorable Canadian Prime Minister is also wasting his valuable time by telling Canadians to fight the racism????? ( The Toronto Star April 6, 2004 ). If we take some of our members' views in account than I think our Prime Minister is also not having enough knowledge on this issue that's why he is telling us to fight a "thing" which do not exist in this country at all.

Any successful person can do really well for himself or herself, but the way I see… being a successful person what you do for your country and community.

Thanks for your words of encouragement Mandy. Life is too short to worry about someone elses ignorance, like that of the guy who passed those racist comments i talked about in my previous post.

Positive attitude is very good...no one would disagree there..but ignoring reality and real life experiences and being naive is not a commendable thing.
