I ate in Gurulaxmi couple of times ... no complaints about the food. But I never liked paying "automatic gratuity" for a lousy place / service. In a places like this, they should leave it to the customer about paying or not paying the tip.

An automatic "service charge" for a non existent or shall we say - a very low level of service? That does not make sense. Now before you jump at me, let me make the distinction between the "taste, flavor" of the food and "Service".

When you wait for an hour, to be seated, that is service, but not an example of "excellent service".

When you are asked to leave (when you just paid the bill), because "there are others waiting to sit here (sic)", that is not good customer service. This happened to a friend of mine.

When you wait for 40 minutes for a plate of idly, that is not customer service. By the way, the delay is not because there are too many customers, but because one waiter does the work of three (which you can rationalize as "common";).


Tasty? yes. The serving size: small......... after all it is all about greed (which you will rationalize as "universal";).

Rotten vegetables tossed in with good ones, at another restaurant......... that is not fiction. I know of a restaurant, many food items are prepared once in three or four days, and kept in cold storage. The reason: they have only one chef.

For obvious reasons, I can not disclose the name of this restaurant.

of restaurants in gta

btw its the tim horton standing in a line mentality of canadians, they just dont complain,have you ever seen a canadian raising his voice for bad customer service, NO, everything is , chalta hey types, even in downtown toronto where one pays $20 parking

but an exception, Hooters in downtown To , its sizzling hot

(but also miss usa hooters, the girls are so more friendlier)

For new readers - go check them out and then decide yourself rather than base your views on comments here ....

All I can say in response to above post is that we frequent Udupi Madras Cafe quite regularly and not even once have we returned disappointed or with a bad stomach ...... Plus its always crowded and the service is great too !!!

You pay $20 n parking to buy a $1.40 coffee?

I think, with all the franchise restaurant, customer service changes from location to location and depend upon the owner. The one at Yorkdale is always busy but still has a pretty decent customer service.

Sad to say, but many franchise owner owned buy "desis" tend to have a lousy customer service. I have bad experience at a desi owned Tim Hortons, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.

I agree 100% with you. Any franchise owned by a desi will generaly have bad customer service and lower standards than the non desi owned counterparts. Stale coffee (Tim Horton's), cheese slices cut in half (McDonalds), skimpy cheese and toppings (Pizza Pizza) are few of many such examples

dear Meghal pardon me, but may i ask why your questions for me are so like fresh of the boat, parking to get a coffee

hope u drive coz the next time you want coffee in n america, use drive through, like everyone,

$20 parking for eating out in downtown west, you must have seen those empty lots with cabin, i think you should spend some money there , you know for the economy

you know why franchise managed by desi are successful, coz instead of buying inventory from the company they subsitute some by buying cheap locally ,

if they buy everything from the company, survival chances are zero period

You know what i mean,

welcome to canada, land of monkey business right from govt(immigration) to the comman man (all cash no tax )
