Manasvi,
One thing I will like to add here is that the things which typically gets bangalore'd are all the technical work. What is here to stay in USA (or Canada) is the business Analysis work. So if you are getting a chance to move towards the functional side, its not a bad choice..but of course it all depends on your interest. Also in USA BA's typically demand more salary than the techies..and canada closely follows USA..;)

BAs demand more salary than techies???
Where did you hear that? Perhaps an SAP func guy might be highly paid compared to a Java techie but people in the same field?
Compare a BA gathering specs for a Java project vs. the tech lead/arch on that project. The techie guy's salary will beat the BA's hands down.
Also, IMO, the analysis work is also moving offshore. Wipr, Infy etc require their archs to do the req gathering as well, which is cutting the BA out of a job.

I don\\'t know why everyone is thinking in terms of salary. Salary is function of demand-supply, local economy, market conditions, firm size, etc.. What one should be looking for is the field and organization that is right fit for your skills and hopes...
This discussion abt salaries and generalities go out the window first chance of temperory downturn.. Also if you spend years in the field that you don\\'t really like becoz it was good money.. soon you are IT consultant without any passion for your work.. not a pretty place to find yourself at 35-40:)

Alexm,
I am not sure about java et al, but if you are looking for implementing application software in enterprise level, Like Siebel, SAP , oracle Financials etc.. BA's salary are way more than developer's becoz application software are targeted towards the Industry verticals like banking, Insurance, healthcare etc and you should have a very thorough knowledge about the companies business and how you can gather the requirements from the end user , understand the business and then fit the requirement into the application software model(All this is BA's work). And for that you should have a very sound functional knowledge about the business and fairly good knowledge of the application software.
Hence the BA's rule when it comes to implementing application software.

Just wanted to add my experience. I have moved to Canada from US about 10 months ago. I have a BS and MS degree in EE. I have about 8 years of experience, 3 years designing/developing java based applications and 5 years designing/developing file systems. My job hunting experience was really positive. I did not distribute my resume to every tom dick and harry, instead I selected a few companies (about 10 or so) in my area which were hiring and got interview calls from 7 and job offers from 5. I was never asked if I have *canadian experience*. I do not have cisco, microsoft, oracle or any other certifications. I think if you have a degree in CS or related field and you have done some 'real' work in your previous job you will not have much difficulty getting a job in the related field.

File systems experience piqued my interest. Just curious what type of company you are working for Canada/worked for in US and what city you are residing now?

Thanks.

I agree with you on that. I mistakenly thought you were talking about custom app development.

Anyways, don't want to divert the thread from its original intention.
