Hello,
I replied to your e-mail but no response from you as of yet.
I have also sent all the confidential information as well as the best staff in the market details to your e-mail address along with where I am doign my SAP course.
To answer your questions :
1. Companies using SAP typically hire you to customise their SAP FI software to their policies. So this takes around 3 months to 3 years where you fine tune the system, teach the employees to handle it etc.. After that the company will run with bare min SAP Staff. 2-3 years are as good as being permanent. There are some small jobs running 1 month, 2 month in length and I donot think that a personb with your experience will even take it. It is for the Diploma holders without any Finance knowledge and who have learnt SAP. You have a solid background in Finance and solid knowledge in Finance and solid experience in Finance. However, having said that see me disclaimer in the point no 2 .
2. if you have Finance /Accountancy background SAP certification is NOT necessary. SAP Certification is for the people who are changing their carreer to SAP and those on EI , since EI allows 3 sap certification attempts. There are a lot of oxymoron's in taking certification. For example, only SAP 4.6 notes are given to you and the instructor teaching you may have only 4.6 experience. Your notes were printed in 1999 (Today is 2009). We are in SAP 6.0 version now. certification is done for 4.6 or 5.0 or 6.0. Some companies will have SAP 4.6, some 5.0 some 6.0. So taking certification for 4.6 may not help in companies running 6.0 and vice versa, though the instructors swear that there is no difference between 4.6 and 6.0. I personally have not come to the stage to find out.
Everyone in the market cooks up the resume. So you will be forced to show 2 years of SAP FI experience when you send out your first resume.
At the current time, It is very difficult to get a SAP FI job (not impossible). In USA it is equally tough, with many people out of H1B status and without jobs and many coming to Canada. Many Canadian companies are getting SAP people from TCS, Wipro, Satyam, Infosys etc.... The advantage of these people is the headache of hiring a PR/Canadian immigrant as they will fall under canada labour laws and it is difficult to fire them. Getting people from TCS etc.. on Work permit is advantageous as the managers can demand a person to be changed (if they donot like him/her) and a replacement will come from India in just days.
SAP FI Salary starts from $10 (Being a User- which a diploma holder does).
$20 an hour min. Super user (which is also a diploma holder).
You (a functional consultant - as you can customise the system) will start with a min. of $ 40.
Average range in 1 year of experience or one project cycle is $100-$140.
With 2 or 3 years you go to $200-$250 an hour.
Other SAP FI guru's can share.
Again my disclaimer (as told by all SAP ERP training partners) : It all depends on how well you work / study. If you donot get a SAP FI job, that only means that there is some mistake with you or that you have not studied properly or that you did not give the interview well. There are so many SAP FI jobs available in the market but you were not smart enough to get it. You canot blame us but only yourself (the person who paid to study SAP FI)
Hope this helps.
Peace by a PD.
