Would like to know from people in Datawarehousing / Business Intelligence ... which of the following ETL tools is more in demand in Canada ......... please share based on industry insight ...

I think it's more of Informatica out there in the market. Did you try or research Cognos ETL tools? However, we are using Cognos Data Manager and Decision stream. I am in retail.

I second Febpreet. Informatica is much in demand in the GTA and surroundings.
Informatica's office /Local HQ is near York Mills Subway on Younge street and they conduct frequent classes/ courses for Level 1 and 2. Each level is $3200 (CDN.).- (It is full day and for 4 days duration for each level).
We are in so much in deficit of Informatica people that most people (including Trainers) come from USA.
Though Informatica is so much in demand, the salary is not that great. I know of people from USA who were offered 80K and they rejected the offer straight away.

Thanks .... Any takers for IBM's Datastage ... I ve heard its a better product ... I m sure that Informatica s more popular though .

Does anyone know the going hourly rate for an experienced ETL developer ... ?

We just moved to canada from USA in mid of November and got job immediately, but i started circulating my resume somewhere in July/August time frame.
What i have observed is that Canadian IT market is quiete decent, its not as big as US but there are lot of oppurtunities here.

I guess your husband profile looks to be excellent and he should have no issue finding a good job, Canada is in great need of IT project managers and senior managers, so i guess with PMI and other experience under his belt he will get a job preety quick.
But again dont compare salaries with USA, even if you get same packagae, your net take home will be less.

Other thing i will suggest is that be open minded and if you are getting a short term contract, take it and keep on looking for full time oppurtunities. But incase you want to do contracting then there are lot of projects and you can save lot of money on taxes. (Incorporate).
