The problem with S. Ramesh was his attitude. That irked the then coach John Wright. Nothing else. Was a good test opener. I believe he is not anymore in the TN team.
P. Patel got into the team becuase of Gaekwad and to some extent Kiran More. Note that P. Patel cost India the test and the series against Aussies in their backyard. If I am right, he had never played in the Ranji matches.
These things do happen in India. Dravid is still there, whether he scores or not, as he is a "senior" player. Sending him at 4 instead of Robin Utthappa was a mistake. Hope Dhoni learns from this.
