Expressions, sign language, forbidden to make personal attacks? Is there something specific that says I cannot make personal attacks, or does that sort of a prohibiton extend to everyone on the board?
Was just plain interested by your acknowledgement of 'personal frustration'!

Way back in 1997 I saw an ad in an IT magazine in my office in India. I forget the name of the magazine and also the exact contents of the ad, but it was from the Canadian Hi Commission iin New Delhi. It was a full page ad on sky blue back ground. Printed in large bold words was the following:
"Is your future in Canada?"
And following that was stuff like "Canada needs skilled professionals like you...something...something.....if you are an educated professional and have experience in ....yappity...yappity...maybe Canada is where your future could be.." and so on.
I remember, because it was that ad that got me started on that fateful day!
Will I call it an invitation? Not exactly but perhaps in the same way that other ads hawk whatever they are selling. The only difference is in terms of scale in that most ads sell physical producs or realizable services whereas this ad from a government of a developed country was selling a dream!!!
Coming to Canada is a choice. The government of Canada is not sitting here to baby sit and help you.

I am not making a childish argument.
I am talking about asking Canadian govt. treat one as a guest. By this theory, everyone who immigrates is a guest.
What I say is you are shifting the burden of acquiring necessary skills for the market place to the government of Canada.
When a person starts applying for canadian residency from India, he / Canadian govt. will have no idea as to how the market demand will be after 3-4 years. (I say 3-4 years because thats the average time it takes to get residency from india).
I say the blame partly lies on canadian federal govt. for not de-listing the professions from the 'skilled workers category' which have lost demand in the market. But in no way Canadian govt. is fully responsible for the failure of some immigrants to acquire proper jobs.
Canadian govt. doesn't guarantee a job in your own field. It just guarantees right to work and live in canada.
Several people I know have immigrated to canada even without carrying the mandatory C$10,000 the govt. wants them to bring to help them settle down. And then they start looking for any labor job available. Now if immigrating to canada was such a easy task (not even bringing C$10,000) a lot of better qualified people who are still in India who should be given the first chance to come and live here.
While I do agree Canadian govt. policies are bad, merely venting out frustation in message boards makes no impact on the govt. Why don't every one get togather and demand action from the govt.?

when a bungling of 850000, dollars make ( about homeless people in hotel rooms, you might have read about it.) BIG HEADLINES , but our condition and misuse of so much of money does not make even a mention. ( except when somepne needs govt. dollars to start a immigrants help centre , mostly for personal gains and getting grants anf funds).
Centres for ( in nov. 17 Metro news) facilitating the foreign doctors to get info about there chances and choices. Do not we know this already. why not spend the money directly to get him the courses . ( but no middlemen would get any grant !! . so this is not done!!)
