Good to know that fact and I am not surprised. During my Engineering, out of three classes, one class was full of Patels. And there are Patels with other last names as well.
I can easily say that without reservations, Patel can easily capture most seats in Engineering/Medical etc. in the state. We really need to give credit to the community for achieving and maintaining such a high success rate. They are in-fact very disciplined, hardworking and goal-oriented individuals.
Fools like Hardik can't represent Patels.

Hardik Patel's IQ may be suspect, but the groundswell of support he got from lacs of people of his community and their grievances must be genuine. In the name of reservation, a few who have already come up in life, both socially and economically, are again taking the benefits, to the detriment of people who really need them from BC, SC and even in OC. Those people must be made to compete in the open, if real social justice and merit are considered important.

I had talk with one of my best friend in Surat ( diamond businessman), as per him, most of the Patel's don't need reservation but they are supporting out of frustration that other people exploit the reservations system , even if they are not qualified they get priority in education, govt job and grants...
So Hardik got lucky because he touch patels weak link , Frustration - Now this can be true from other community as well , who are not eligible under reservations and they had to face tough competition because of BC,SC,OC reservation quotas...

Ideally , when BC/SC quota was created , they should have defined it for limited period so that a generation is uplifted and then sail as usual. Reservations cannot continue forever , rift in society is visible, it solved one problem but created another , the caste divide still stays. Govt. needs to be more innovative.
Patels are right in raising it. Their one slogan should be 'reservations for patidar or NO reservation at all", Currently it is confusing for all what they want.
There will be more communities coming up with similar reservations or slogans.
Issue in hand is huge , if reservations are eradicated seeing these up-rises , it will in-turn stem into SC/BC agitations to restore the reservations and thus the vicious cycle.
India lacks in creating time bound policies. Like this one , It bite backs when things go outdated.
Is meat ban time bound ?

although I strongly believe our Aadiwaasi & some SC/ST and other oppressed casts still need quota to pay back for crimes committed to them by us(so called higher caste )

I read some news about few Patel's withdrawing money from banks. Very funny as they are withdrawing money from Co-operative banks, which by definition runs by themselves. I don't know when this stupidity will end.

After Amit Shah intervention - movement has been die down big time.... but there are still few elements back back keshubhai Gang and will create small issue once a while but it won't be big as last time...
