Thanks akkiluck. I will be applying PIO for my one year old daughter. Please can you advise regarding few more questions I have. I appreciate your time in this regard.

On PIO form, question 15 (ii) proof of residence - what proof do they want? Will my cancelled India passport be sufficient? For question 17, can I put the child's grandparents names and addresses?

In signature field, only one parent needs to sign right?

For documents, I shall be taking my daughter's Canadian passport, birth certificate (long form), my cancelled Indian passport, landing paper & $240 money order. Is there anything else they need? They do not need the other parent's documents like passport landing paper etc, is that correct?

After accepting PIO application, will they issue a receipt or something?

When I went for OCI there was a long lineup, I did not see a line for PIO. For PIO, do we go to the counter directly?

hi kulb regards to question 17 yes u can put grandparents address
u have to sign in the signature field and child thumb print on the lower signature field

for pio i submitted the foll

cdn passport ,indian passport, statement of live birth certificate, one photo pasted on the form and 3 more, photocopies of the passport, parents passport ,landing doc, parents citizenship certificate and one prepaid envelope
with a draft of 480$ cdn currency for two applications.(i.E one application 240$) payable to consulate general of india ,toronto.

you do need one parent's full documents as stated above all originals are checked and returned immediately.

u will be given pio receipt and will be asked to submit a selfadressed prepaid envelope

as soon as u enter u tell the person at the desk you are there for pio and u will be called in sequence .

hope this helps.

However, had to wait for one more hour as they printed receipts for everyone, all at one time and out of CGI at 12:15.

Person who reached there at 4:30 AM or 8:45 or 10:00, all got free at one time and got down in same elevator.

Good job by CGI and there is no ceiling on application that they will accept 60 in a day as mentioned by someone.

Cheers!

Hi, have u received your OCI and please can u post your timeline? I applied 4/13, photo scanned next day but no further updates yet. How long does it take to get OCI?

Thanks.

Photo scanned next day? That is pretty quick. Earlier photo scanning itself used to take couple of weeks (probably scanned in India).

Do not know current timeline but used to be around 2 months.
