Just looking to apply for OCI next week. As I went along the form, I found a column which asks for a visible identification mark. A member of my family does not have any visible identifcation mark at all. what should be done in this case?
Also if there any cheap place to take photo's which may benefit other OCI filers. I asked Walmart and 5 copies are $39 + tax ( Their way of billing is 2 passport size photo's is $12.99, so 5 would be 3 times that). Therefore I went to a private shop in Kitchener who took it for $19.99 (+ taxes). For 6 copises she asked for $24.99. Is this cheap or do we have cheaper options in Mississauga?
TIA (Thanks in Advance)

Greetings TK
I was at the consulate abt 15 mins after they opened and there were quite a few applicants already and waited in there for about an hour. I would suggest making it in about 1/2hr to 15 mins before they open.

As far as the pics go, I thought Shoppers Drug Mart / Superstore were the cheapest (10 bucks for 2 pics) but seems that you have found a better option

Also,
Though the card one gets at the citizenship ceremony has the text "Certificate of Canadian Citizenship" on it, the Indian consulate needs OCI applications to also be supported by the other paper "certificate" which has the date of citizenship. (apparently the consulate uses the terms interchangably)

Thanks
b

Bombamma,
Thanks for your reply. I shall go there an hour before. Is it possible for one member of the family to stand in the cold and while other members come from Tim Hortons while the tokens are being given / while registration.
Also after I took the pictures and filled up the part A, it led to another link which gave detailed photos specification and which instructed that the photo should be taken with a light background ( and specifically mentions that the backgorund should not be white) where as my background is pure white. Should I retake the photos (cost $67) or just submit as it as assuming that the indian counsulate members themselves whold not know the rules?
TIA

Hello TK,

There is one photographer located at Square One who is charging ridiculously low as low as $4.95 or something like that for two Canadian Citizenship photographs or Canadian passport photographs like that why don’t you check try our Pakistani brother shop to save your money. The shop is located on the ground floor of OHIP Card building.

Hi TK ,
Just dont take the risk with photos ..Person dealing with OCI is IFS and certainly knows about the specs ...
You need not to drag your family with you for OCI provided you have filled the application properly and completely . make sure that they have signed wherever needed ...
If you arrive 15 min earlier I belive you should be fine ..
Best of Luck
Ashwani

If you have taken passport size photographs, they are not the size that is wanted for OCI. They have defined a completely different size (I think 3.5 by 3.5 which is a square photo)

I used my own camera, stood against a light coloured wall in my house and asked my son to click my photo. Later I downloaded that photo to my computer and printed multiple copies on one sheet. After that, cut them to the size they want.

Total cost I think would be about $2-3.

And yes I did get my OCI in time - I think 4-5 weeks.

There is a convinience store next to Mirch Masala (markham/ellesmere) you can go for 5 photographs (as per the OCI specifications...light blue background and 35mm x 35mm). It works as my OCI application was accepted. They charge 13.25 CAD, still much cheaper then shoppers drugmart.

As such I also did waste 70 CAD at shoppers drugmart :), but since background was white(only came to know when I started filling the application as indian consulate dont have the exact specs anywhere outside on the website) I did not use those pics and instead used the above location.
