   ...dhabhi office wont do. They will issue only Visit / Student visa. You have to send you passport to London office for visa stamping. Pls go and check in Abu dhabi office they will guide you what to do. Any way have you applyed thru any agent if so, than its you agent duty to stamp your visa , you dont have to worry about it.    ...There is a front page article in some newspapers in India about cars being abandoned in Dubai airport with note attached that they cant make payments for the residence and car. As the economic slowdown is creeping Dubai, those who got laid off (mainly North Americans and Europeans) have gone back home fearing jail term as per local laws for not paying their mortgage and loans. Looks like RE is not doing that great as it used to be. Others who are in Dubai / ME please throw more light? KM

   down to earth: ...ining mobile,cars etc are very expensive affair : Car Insurance is very high, more than cost of petrol. We require 300-350 for auto insurance + another 300 for petrol and keep aside 200-250 for maintainence of car. Every month $800 to maintain a car. whereas in dubai/sharjah, our car insurance for full year was 360-400 Dhs and petrol Dhs100-150. Which comes to $200 every month. something has to be done with regards to auto insurance. Due to last minute booking, my trip was convoluted from Detroit to Frankfurt (Delta), Frankfurt to Abu Dhabi (Etihad), Abu Dhabi (Etihad) to KUL and then to Penang via Malaysia Air. Etihad upgraded me to First Class on their lap even though I did not have any special points/miles, etc.

   ...correct me if i am worng. this forum means the person who board from india and chnage plane in dubai (like Emirat airways from ahmedabad to toronto) has no problem. Because no security or immigration checking will done in dubai. once u board your luggage from ahmedabad u just get your beggage in toronto. so immigration checking been happened in toronto not in dubai. so this thing only apply if u r going to stay in dubai.
