...Pandya, It is better to buy Gold in Dubai but better out of the airport in the Gold Souk. Buy it as ornaments and wear it out. If it is Gold bars also I would recommend Dubai as price is cheaper. In Canada, it is costlier as it does not move fast. For Gold bars, there is a 10% tax on the Gold bars that is brought inside India. Ornaments will go free but ask her to wear it. On a side help : Often I take the plane from Sharjah-Trivandrum-Chennai. I travel in the domestic leg of Trivandrum-Chennai. It was mentioned in the latter that I would be contacted by AbuDhabi Canadian embassy when they receive the PP's from London after visa stamping. 1) I would like to know is, will they ask me to collect the PP's from AbuDhabi Embassy when they receieve or will they courier it to the address which is mentioned on the self addressed envelop send by me? 2) If I have to collect myself do my wife also need to come with me? 	...I'd guess most flights out of Halifax would layover somewhere in Europe. So you are ok from a visa/transit perspective. Weather and flying conditions over Europe are a different matter. police clearance: ...In case of Police clearance from sharjah, you have to go to police station and personally do it, it takes an hour to get it done and you have to get it typed from typist there (form) and it will cost dhs 50 to dhs 100. In case of police clearance outside UAE anywhere can be done by Indian association, sharjah. They charge you normal fees whatever applicable + dhs 20/- their fees and you will get the same in 40 - 60 days.We got it done from them. hope this helps.

...You can take airport taxi and it will charge 250-300 AED (75 - 90 USD) and journey time is one and half hour or less (distance 165 km.) approx. You can rent a car as well @ 75 - 100 AED / day from the airport. Some airlines has free bus ride from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, e.g. Singapore Air Lines. Cheapest way, take a taxi to reach Abudhabi bus stand and take a bus or share a taxi, maximum AED 30 per head.

...Since you say that your PR application is being processed for 5 years, one may assume that your sponsorship application has been approved and your mother has submitted her documents to Abu Dhabi. If she is no longer a resident of Dubai, her application will need to be transferred to the Canadian High Commission where she is a permanent resident of. Canada does not qualify as she is here on a visitors visa. The problem you face is that wherever her place of permanent residence will be, she will have to resubmit documents. If it is India, then she will have to resubmit documents to New Delhi and that will take another 2-3 years for the PR to come through. A better option for her would be to so...
