Hi guys,

I am Mechanical engineering graduate from India and was doing quiet good in India working with MNC with a handsome pay package.
It has been 2 years now in canada but i have not got a single job offer from my field.

I am now totally frustrated and fed up with one question about CANADIAN Experience?

Why they ask for these I dont understand ? does engineering principles are different in canada, which we had studied?

What different they do in this country compared to othe countires? This i think is totally a bullshit as they don't want people like us to enter their core fields ..

They only want Labours who can lift and operate machines and assemble some things...I dont see any good jobs available except this...

Even if you get qualified for better jobs and clear all your interviews they finally deny you asking one simple question about CANADIAN EXPERIENCE.

I would request all those with good pay and position to not to come to canada as it is not a land of opportunities as shown or quoted it land of Labours....

If you guys agree to me ..please send as many people the real scenario of canada as this it is not Bed of Roses it is only Thorns we have in canada...

I can't agree with your openions. Because there is lot of oppertunities for Engineers. Mainly depends on the type of experience you are having. If you are having relevent engineering experience, try in that field only. Insted of searching for jobs in different fields.

As per my general openion its easy to get job here than in India. In India you won't get any job without proper reference ,even though you are well qualified from good University.

Here if you are competent enough ,then you can grab job in your on field with out any backing

You mentioned MNC experience - do you have experience which is "sellable" in Canada. I know many Desis who have either secured a job even before landing in Canada or got a job within days of arrival in Canada.

Personally, I have never heard the term "Canadian Experience" from any of the interviewers who have hired or not hired me.

DIA,
I am`surprised Canadian experience is not an issue in alberta. Maybe it is little different there . But here in GTA canadian experience is a big "excuse" for not giving jobs to desis. It is a catch 22 , you cant have canadian experience without a job and can have a job without canadian experience.

But eventually everyone who is persistant breaks thru this paradox. "chakravyuh'

How is it in Alberta, how easy was it for you and other engineers to get a job in Alberta.

What is the main expertise you got.Means do you have an understanding of engineering standards like API,ASME,ANSI & TEMA. Would be a good idea if you look around and check Project Engineer positions. DO you have an understanding of Project Planning software like Microsoft Project & AutoCad. If yes, then you would really breakthrough quickly.

IEEE/ANSI, CEC, NEC, IEC... Area Classifications (API 500)... and many more. Basically when you have worked with these, you don't need "Canadian Exp" and nobody will ask you for that!

MS Project is the same all over the world - isn't it?
