Sorry that my answer was vague.
I was trying to say that if you know MS Project or AutoCad your skills are very much 'sellable' in Canada.
There is always a good demand for people with good AutoCad background. I am not sure about hiring opportunity for people having only MS Project knowledge not backed by other skills. (You might not be able to market yourself with just MS Project knowledge.)
I do not know the specifics of your case but I knew a mechanical engineer from Venezuela who was looking for a job in his field but could not find one. He finally worked on his AutoCad skills and armed with his resume started knocking on doors and dropped his resume off at many places. He finally found a job with a civil engineering firm as a CAD technician at $12 / hour. He worked diligently and kept applying for mechanical engineering jobs. After almost a year, one day he got a call out of the blue from a Top 10 engineering company and to cut a long story short found a position as a mech engineer at 2.5 times what he was making as a AutoCad tech.

Iqbal,
I received your feed back and was really glad to know that u had worked on Cryogenics plants earlier.
Do u have any idea about requirement of Cryogenic Air separation plant experineced person requirement in ALberta?
I would be fine with Entry level also if given a chance initially.
I m also willing to join any EPC company if they can offer me entry level job in field of equipment design although i had few years of exp. working with Pumps.
Once Again thanks for your reply and do keep replying at your convenience.
if u have worked in cryogenix, then canada is not the country u wanna be in. however, here is the tip for ya.
a graduating mech. engineer in canada generally worx in these areas
Application engineer (technical indoor sales)
HVAC design
Manufacturing Engineer
Production Management
Project Management
Maintenance Management
Engg. sales
Technical Writing
Community college teaching etc.
if u did any of this then u did not sell urself hard. two years goneby and u did not work in ur area means ur chances r less to get in unless u do some refreshing/upgrading. don't end up as a drafter like most of other south asians.

hey all..
i read all the posts in this topic...well i was also a mechanical engineer back in India..and as was the case with many friends, i too didnot find a job in my field until 6 months after coming to Canada..but then working hard towards my goal of getting a job in my own field paid off..i started at an entry level and now i work as a quality control inspector in one of the aerospace manu. companies....though i dont get paid much, i have 100% job satisfaction...100%...i like what i do..i did some studies and got certification here..
the reason for writing all this is, if everyone struggles and works hard, then finding job in our own field is possible...very much possible...but normal indian mentality is $1 = 32 ruppes....and once we get a job, any job, we completely forget about our field..do overtime..thinking dollars r coming..and within 2 yrs u r out of ur field touch..u dont know what is going on in canada...u get into the routine of doing ur labour job...
so am sure whoever comes to canada, can surely get a job in their own field..but then u have to strive towards it..if ur degrees r not considered here, then do some courses and improve ur position.
All the best to everyone looking out for a good job.
AMit.

Engineering degree is equal everywhere and thats why you got immigration.Ground reality is experience which you have is out dated and that's why you have problem grabbing a job. If you are here for two years than you should have done some certificate courses to align yourslef according to demand. Canadian Experience is nothing but they are asking about latest knowledge in your field... you may also explore detroit auto industry .... I know its difficult to keep up with up to date development but you require it to get into field.
