Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore figure in Business Week's "The World's Worst Places to Work". Looks like BW took only the developing economies into consideration to come up with the list.
Here's the link to the slide show

Yeah, it's selected from developing countries.
However, the selections are rather uneven in terms of commercialization and internationalization of the cities.
For example, Mumbai is way more international and industralized than say Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
It is not fair to compare the two and rank them side-by-side.
Similarly New Delhi or Lagos vis-a-vis some of the smaller Chinese cities or a couple of cities in Central Asia - not the same scale for comparison.
But I tend to agree with their conclusions around the 4 Indian cities profiled.
New Delhi is a mess these days - impossible to get around at all.

Its a rotten shame to call Indian cities "worst" places to work. It almost takes away from the superlative's impact to convey the meaning of downright hopelessness. Really, if Bangalore is the worst place to work, that's just fan-bloody-tastic to tell you the truth. The world ain't that bad a place I guess.
I have always wondered the kind of panel that comes up with these kinds of lists - "best of", "worst of" - relative to what?
Whatever...

IMO, its an article written by a bigot. I am from Bangalore and I dont know from where Businessweek got that picture. I doubt its Bangalore. Why are they showing those pictures from India? There are thousands of whites working and living in Bangalore and other Indian citieis mentioned in the article. Another India bashing article by a bigot.

There is no maintenance and upkeep of our national monuments like Jantar Mantar, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, etc.
I grew up in Delhi and it has changed so much for the worse that I feel bad.

When was the last time you were in New Delhi? I was there in Dec 2007 and gone to all the places you have mentioned. Looks just ifne and they have been taken care. If you think that a city should not change, I dont know what else to say.
Did you know that there are thousands of whites work/live in Delhi? If it was so bad as mentioned in the article, they would have gone back.
