Although Indian banks were hardly affected by the global recession that saw many a global banking giant fall by the wayside, not a single Indian bank finds a place among the world's safest 20 banks' list put out by Global Finance.

Not a single american bank in the list too.

Recently in july, the EU conducted Stress test on all EU banks.

Spain, with 27 tested banks, makes up the biggest portion of the exams. The savings banks that failed were CajaSur; a merger group led by Caixa Catalunya; a group led by Caixa Sabadell; Caja Duero-Caja Espana, and Banca Civica.

Spain’s largest bank, Banco Santander SA, maintained its Tier 1 capital ratio at 10 percent under the most stringent scenario.

As much as I would hate admitting it, I would not deposit my money in private banks in India, I'd rather park my money with the paan chewing thugs of Indian govt banks. sometimes you have to give the devil bureaucrat his due!!!
