I guess I might have responded in the other thread . My last Passport was issued in the Gulf by Indian Embassy ... Indian Embassy Canada needs to get verification / confirmation from the earlier issuing Authority and in case of delay in getting this information , they issue a new Passport initially for 1 year , but after 4-5 months , if you visit them / reapply for an extension , they can do so w/o any fees , if they have received the verification by then .

I m still to get mine extended ... Any one who s has gone through this , please share after how much time did you re apply ?

Hi

How long do you have to apply for renewal/new [ whatever we want to call it] once your current 10 yrs Indian passport expires?

I think it is 1 yr. I know it can be done 6 months before expiry and 1 yr after expiry.

My wife's passport expired in June,09 and our citizenship application is in process. We were hoping to have it done before May 2010.

Is that fine or we need to get indian one renewed only to have it turned back in a few months?
