Last year, I had applied for my Canadian Citizenship and it is still in process. Also, my Indian passport expires in September.

In the passport application, under declaration, the following question is there.

iii) I have neither applied for nor obtained Canadian or any nationality other than Indian,

How to answer this question? Can I not apply for the passport renewal as the Citizenship application is in process?

Certainly you can apply for passport renewal if Citizenship is in process

I don't remember following question in application.

I am sorry. It is not a question. It is under the Declaration section.

Coming to a 10 yr end , I applied for a new passport (renewal) .

The new passport has a validity of only 1 yr wherein I expected 10 years . Is it just me or CGI issues new passports here for one year for everyone ?

Where was your previous Indian passport issued?

My original passport was issued in India but a new one was issued in the Gulf upon the original passport getting filled ........ Does that have a bearing ?

BTW my PR is valid till 2013 ........... Does the CGI want me to apply for a new Passport every year ? The passport does bear a stamp that it can be extended but I do not understand - wasn't 10 years the standard period of a new passport ?
