How much do these jobs typically pay. What about jobs in retail. Are there plenty of jobs in this field all over Canada

all jobs in Alberta typically pay 25 to 50% more for similar job in other parts of canada ...
not surprising to see the girl serving coffee behind the Tim Horton's counter to be making $20-22/hour.

Is this really true 20-22 dollars an hour to work at Tim Horton's. Is this because the cost of living is higher in Alberta or there is a scarcity of workers???

You will not make that kind of money in Calgary, Alberta at Tim Hortons (or any coffee shop) or Safeway (or any grocery store) or Wal-Mart. The most you might get is $12 in such jobs.

Are you sure about $20-22/hour? I have heard as much as '$13-$14/hr'.

Please keep in mind the higher cost of living (That's what I have heard).

Wrong....

My wife was working form TH and got $10/hr (Edmonton).

My friends wife (Fort McMurray) is getting $15/hr in night shift.

And no any job (except technical labour like plumber, crain operator) paying 25% more, the rate are similar to Ontario.

Thanks 'taker' for clarifying. I, for one moment started thinking about a move to Alberta leaving my IT job to earn $22-25/hr alongwith my wife. lol... kidding :)

I believe, the only boom in Alberta was/is for Oil rig workers/labourers, Energy engineers/technicians - that too in Fort McMurray. All else must be earning the same as anywhere in Canada. What about Call-Centre jobs? Any idea how much do they pay, e.g. Telus, Shaw, Bell, Rogers, Dell etc.?
