Hello! CD members,
I am have been thinking that many desi immigrants do not know what salary other people in their jobs are getting an though of making a thread where salaries which people get can be put.
If you are not comfortable in putting down your salary, then you can put the salary level of someone whom you know. In this way desi's (in canada and those immigrating ) can know what to expect.
Please note that these are ACTUAL salaries got by Desi's. Salary levels are advertised but those jobs go to Gora's . Desi's could be paid mush less.

Brampton bus driver (with one year exp.)- $18 +overtime

Draftsman in an Architectural company (depends on skill and how large the office is ) : $10- $15

Draftsman in a one man Architects office -$8 initial. $9 after 1 year.

Architects in a small company (OAA certifies)- $55K to $65K a year.

Software co. (125 staff)- Oracle DBA-> 80K to 100K a year (depending on experience).

Gas Station (only selling gas and cigerettes, Small one in Toronto, run by a
punjabi) - $7.50-$8.50 (by cash)

Petro canada gas station (Run the shop too)- $10.0

Chemist in a leading pharma co.. -$18.75 an hour + overtime (contract job)

More as i come to know of it. Other CD members please share . Will be useful to all.

Sidenote : thanks guys for all the salary levels. You really donot know how much this will be useful to desi's who are coming to Canada looking for jobs or desi's already here. The salary levels mentioned here are ACTUAL salaries drawn by desi's and are the REALISTIC salaries. Even i have learnt a lot from the actual salaries mentioned here for most of the professions. If you had asked me the salary levels of some professions mentioned here, i would have just taken a guess before this thread was started. Thanks a lot fellows! and many thanks-TK
Sidenote 2 : Could people refrain from posting irrelavent stuff in this threas please?. This thread is supposed to state only actual salaries received by desi's for various professions. Thank you for your cooperation-TK

TK,

I am a Senior IT Guy (10 yrs exp), I am currently working on offers any where between 80k-90k full time to start with plus benefits with promise on a good contribution to my RRSPs. I see more Contract Jobs picking up with IT in Project Management, DBA and Implementations. I love to try one but after a year.

Hopefully I will make it soon.

An engineer starting salary: $40-50k (permanent)

Retail sales (computer) - Starting salary 8.5 dollars per hour
Call centre - $8 per hour to $17 per hour
Tim Hortons, Mcdonalds, etc. - $8 per hour starting

Security jobs - $11 per hour
Warehouse jobs - $9 per hour & more
School-bus driver - $15 per hour (around 4 hrs per day)
Data-entry - $8 to $12 per hour
Newspaper delivery - $8 per hour (around 3 hrs. per day, early morning)
Pizza delivery - Around $10 per hour (you could get more tips)
Cleaning jobs (includes cleaning toilets, floor, etc.) - $15 per hour
Customer service - $8.5 per hour
