Great day for South Asians in Toronto!

At least for those who take pride in the accomplishments of fellow South Asians.

I am sure many of you are familiar with Excel Funds. Well today the CEO of Excel Funds was invited to ring the opening bell at the TSX.

The Excel India Trust Fund started trading in july 2007 (17th I think)

Born in Delhi, this guy has come a long way! And he's in his forties. Of course can't compare him to the richie rich folk elsewhere in the world but he has 'excelled' as well.

SHANGHAI, China (AP) -- Chinese stocks surged to a record high close Friday as subscription funds from coal miner Shenhua Energy's initial public offering returned to the market, further fueling a pre-holiday rally.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index surged 2.6 percent, or 142.89 points, to 5,552.30. The Shenzhen Composite Index of China's smaller, second market rose 2.7 percent to 1,532.67.

HK hits another record close. TSX and Dow down.

Ok guys, after the fall due sub-prime crisis, the all-powerfull Dow surges to all time high!

HK and China closed! TSX up- Must be the after effect of the Excel India Trust opening!

Like man HK opens with big gap. Up 600+ points to 27800+. Just a kiss away from 28000!

Move over Rover, let the Hang Seng Index take over (with all due respects to Jimi- that's Hendrix if you please- not Page- though he's pretty farout too!)!


Man ever since that fateful day not too long ago when HK jumped 1200 points, the index is making fun of Silver (Lone Ranger's horse) and Trigger( Roy Roger's horse). It's just bolting mad!

In a single leap it crosses from 27200- to 28199. Amazing! Maybe it's all those horses at Sha Tin giving it inspiration.

Japan up.
