Notice it opened at 18919.57 and spiralled all the way down to 16,951.50 and up again to close at 17605.35- down 1408 points !

They say $70 billion has been wiped out overnight. I say wait till US opens tomorrow, you ain't seen nothing yet.

The irony is that many Chinese banks have actually lost huge sums in the mortgage debacle in US. SWEET, THEY MADE MONEY FROM WAL MART & LIKE (RESIDENTIAL CONSUMERS) UNFORTUNATELY LOST IT ON HOMES. In the end it will come to haunt us all. Being a communist country the matter is just coming out

China down 354 points- 7% in a single day!

UK and France barely holding their noses above water with Germany losing 100 points.

If as predicted Dow loses ground today, Europe will take the cue and go red, or do they sniff somthing + in the air and have turned around from neg territory to pos territory.

We shall know s the day unravels.

TSX lost 600 points yesterday.

SHANGHAI, China -
Chinese stocks bounced in volatile trading Wednesday, with Shanghai's benchmark rebounding and then dipping to a five-month low before ending the day higher.

The Shanghai Composite Index gained 143.29 points, or 3.1 percent, to 4,703.05. The index dipped to as low as 4,510.50 during the day.

The Shanghai index had fallen 7.2 percent Tuesday and 5.1 percent on Monday amid a global sell-off that was reversed by a surprise, recession-fighting interest rate cut by the U.S. Federal Reserve.

The Shenzhen Composite Index of China's smaller, second market gained 4.8 percent to 1,400.86.

But the real star performer -the Hang Seng Index! Up a whopping 2332 points! 10.72% in one day!

Dow down yesterday but TSX up 500 points!

Main European indices down today and with Dow and Nasdaq futures down looks like everything was a one-day reprieve.

George Soros says that the current crisis signals end of the mighty US buck dominance in the world and that govts. will start dumping it as a reserve in good quantities.

Acc to my broker India market lost Monday and Tuesday due to overbooking of Reliance IPO. For a 3b IPO subscription was 200b! Lots of money for that booking came out of stock market and it will take 2 weeks for that extra money to come back to market.

So the downturn seems to be temporary.

Did anybody see the ride yesterday on TSX and Dow? Like a seesaw.

The notion out there is that the world stock markets are acting up like the banana republics- mickey mouse material-whatever.

Not behaving like 'adults'.

For me it's a real rush!

Beware of 'strawberry quick'!

CHINA
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed up 0.93 pct at 4,761.69, buoyed by a strong rally in Hong Kong, with the record yuan also boosting banks and property developers.

However, trading was less active due to the launch of retail subscriptions for a China Coal Energy Co Ltd (OOTC:CCOZF) initial public offering in Shanghai, which diverted funds from the secondary market.

The Shanghai A-share Index rose 0.94 pct to 4,997.67 and the Shenzhen A-share Index was up 0.44 pct at 1,509.64.

The Shanghai B-share Index closed up 0.13 pct to 321.11 and the Shenzhen B-share Index rose 2.94 pct to 657.47.
