That's the thing - we'd all like to blame society...and yes to a certain extent, I'll agree to it. But each of us as individuals are the navigators of our own thoughts and minds...we as individuals choose our actions and choose our destiny, not the other way round. The sad fact is that the actions of one single person can and does affect a whole society, so yes, it is as a whole society that we need to address the issue of terrorism.
Easier said that done...especially when the society or your close knit community you live in (sometimes) endorses and encourages this kind of behaviour. But whats the driving force? What makes an individual get onto a plane, or a train and blow himself up?

Morning_rain dont feel scared. If you feel scared you have made the "Islamic Fascists" (a new term given to us by George W Bush today.) successful.
Society has not failed these "home growns". There was report being shown on CNN today (Oh how this brings back memories of Sept 11, 2001..when I had CNN on for 24 hrs a day following the coverage)... that
"xxxxxx generally do not like to socialize with others in their community. There are many xxxxxx who are part of the Municipal council but thats all they do"...
You can bring water to a horse; you cant force it to drink it. These home growns, live in a free society and enjoy the freedom of the west..yet they want to turn the same society into archaic societies....You can put up with them for sometime...but then there is a limit for tolerance..
Hina/Hiba....no need to change nicks..you can stick to one nick only !

Terror in any form must be brought to an end.
Why is it that only 1 particular community has problems with other people ?
Anywher on this planet , wherever it exists they are at war with somebody.
Is'nt it time now even the great philanthrophists take serious note of this problem and divert or dedicate some part of their generosity in researching the cause, and finding remedy of it?
Atleast some portion of their charity should be spent in awkening the human conscious of the sane persons of the same community.
Media has to be actively involved in constantly brain washing these minds, reminding them of "LIVE AND LET LIVE"
This universal problem is more serious threat than any of the combined threat of any medical disease existing on this planet

These people need a reeducation. It would not be an issue, if like many other thinkers(including muslims) mentioned , free thought and debate about the religion were encouraged instead of a totalitarian ideology being promoted. If no sign of dissent and questioning of Koranic interpretations, are tolerated, then there can be no progress.
Christanity itself had to go through a phase of reform/debate/questioning before many of its fascist themes lost appeal to the mainstream Christians. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be happening in Islam. The real moderates seem to be afraid or cowering, just as Christian intellectuals used to during the dark ages. The writ of the religious figures in islam seem to be absolute...just as the church used to be.
Anyway, as to what we can do. What did the west do in the face of other facist/supremacist challengeslike the Nazis? Was it painless...absolutely not! However, the German society(which for the most part wholeheartedly backed Hitler and his ideology) has now been transformed by reeducation. Nazis are relegated to a fringe group.
If the west is serious about meeting this challenge, all of us have to realise that at this point strong action is necessary until the islamic supremacists are no longer a threat...just like it was done with the Nazis. Most westerners are in a feel-good, flower-child stage of denial about the threat.

Boy, I just dread the lines for security in the airports.

Pearson has suspended the Duty Free sales.
The most affected of this (in the near future) will be Ladies and children. They will not be able to carry any of the cosmetics, perfumes and related items.
Even the baby milk/formulae will be checked( I do not know how?).
What next a plane will fly human beings, while another on tow will carry the baggage ?.
