Hi friends,

I know the the topic is very hot. Many indians migrate to canada with a view to get a better life and establish themselves in canada. They adopt the country life style, canadian culture, and almost every aspect which makes them feel MY OWN COUNTRY.

The question is how far this country and especially the people here accept us in jobs and their culture. Basically if you see these people always keep a vast distance between us and we always feel that we are the victim of bigotry. These people never aceept us from the bottom of their heart and as a result in jobs too though you try to adjust every thing but whenever they get a person in place of you of their origin, they easily kicked out and recruit him/her. What is this ? It is simply bigotry. Many indians are victim of this but don't feel to say. Why ??? If you live your own country and accept other country as you own why you are suffered as bigotry????

I invite you all to add if anyone has become a victim of Bigotry >>>

Dear Chandresh,

You behaving like a seasoned lawyer. The letter of Mr. Shah is very clear in itself and loudly speaking everything. I have experienced bigotry in Canada.

I WAS A VICTIM OF BIGOTRY! But I could not tell anyone. I feel such shame. My boss was a desi and he fired me. Only to hire another desi! For those who don't get it, this is sarcasm

All I can say is this is a bunch of nonsense. BS. This cannot be the opinion of someone who has lived in Canada. Are you confusing Canada with Dubai??

What kind of acceptance are you expecting? Lifetime employment? Is that your acceptance? And from whom? What distance are you talking about? I have friends of many cultures and faiths. I feel no distance. Understandably strangers keep a distance - just like they do in INDIA! Unless you are one of those "Huggers" and "Close speakers" from episodes of Seinfeld. In that case, I don't blame "them" whoever "they" are.

Shah,

What you claim is definetly true (and very evident) in some parts of the United States as I have experienced first hand, but I don't think it is even an issue here in Toronto. I can't vouch for the rest of Canada as I haven't had a chance to explore yet.

So what else is new?

Here's a link in today's Star

The word used is one popular in South Africa.

Historians have us believe that this has been occurring since time enow. In my lifetime I have seen it all around me and has also affected me. It will take a long time to eradicate if it can be at all.

So a tribute to Mr. Mohamed(South Asian from Africa, don't miss out on his name) who was bestowed with some award or other at the ICCC meet recently for reaching a top post at Rogers and is also the one slated to replace Ted Rogers.

He has made the grade.

I am sure if you look hard enough you will find several people of ethnic backgrounds in high positions, having cracked the glass ceiling, though how many have reached the position of being THE top gun of a conglomerate, I wouldn't know.
