Unless it is by crook, no one can give commercial xerox for less than 5 cents a page. Even one piece of paper costs as much. So staples and office depot are out. You can try to make a deal with the printing shop near the corner provided the owner is not around and the printing boy has a peeve with the owner.
(Edit : Sorry for my above statement. I have now understood that there is xerox for 2 cents a page too, though i canot belive how feasible it is to them.)
TK.

Just checked with Staples today, their rate is 4 cents / page (tax incl) for full-serve.

Cost of copy paper (500 pack) is upwards of $4.00 taxes incl, that works out to 0.008 cents / page. So why would it not be feasible to offer it cheaper than 5 cents/page.

$4 = 400 cents
400/500 = 0.8 cents ~ 1 cent ..
:D

I knew it!! When I read the original post, I knew you were going to reply. What I didn't expect is for the desi to do it "free of cost" and then "charge you a reasonable price". You're outdoing yourself here, TK-saab :)

No offense, your response just sounded really funny.

Thats interesting! What should be the cost of a photocopy?

Lets say an average photocopy machine costs $5,000.00. Lets say that the machine is used to copy 300 pages per day, or average 10,000 per month. Assuming the machine has to be amortized over 10 years so that cost to be amortized per year is $500. Lets add 10% maintenance cost. So the total is $550.00 So we have 55000/10000 =5.5 cents a page. Add 0.8 cents for paper and we have 6.3 cents a page. And thats not counting the cost of fixed overhead (rent, utilities, staff) etc. So either the machine has to make more than 10,000 copies per month or has to cost less than $5000 for the cost to come lower.

BTW in downtown at Charles and Bay there is a photocopy shop where you can get copies for 3 cents a page self serve. But he has a bunch of old machines which constantly break down so thats how he make the economics work.

I have only 2 cents to contribute, not a cent more, not a cent less ;-)

I got the thing done in 3.5cents/copy on college street near UNIV. OF TORONTO.
I am so surprised that people are telling stories about immigration/buying copy m/c +loads of other shit than what is required
Needless to say I never went thru their whole message.
