Hello CD members,
This incident happened yesterday at a Shell petrol station located on Dundas St. W between Hwy.10 and Cawthra.
A Supposedly Canadian (Gora) lady was filling gas and an Italian Senior was waiting behind her for his turn. I think that she was slow /late in filling and that the Italian senior pointed his hand from inside the car. Once the woman came back after paying for her gas, she went straight to the Italian senior as asked him why he pointed his hand. I could not hear what the Italian senior said b'cos he still has his doors and windows shut. The argument went heated and the Canadian Gora lady shouted to the Italian Senior " Why donot you just get back to your country". At this statement the Italian senior opened his car door and shouted in broken english "I will Kill you". The Gora lady then asked " Excuse me, What did you just say?". The Italian senior repeated his threat. At this point the Canadian Gora lady said the "F" word but it could have also meant another word starting with"F" but not having a Vulgur meaning. She then went to her car, talked something to her partner but then drove off.
I was watching the scene all along. I took note of both the number plates in case they should call the police but they did not.
I was shocked at this incident. Who was at fault? Can a "Gora" ask us to leave back to our country? If the police had come and i told them the incident that had happened who was at fault?
Mature answers only please. Please donot deviate from the topic. I had posted this b'cos it might educate the new immigrants arriving about their rights and previlages.

It doesn't really matter who was at fault in these types of situations...in life, you get called names and bad thing sare said to you. You just have to shrug it off and get on with it and get over it. By analysing it, you turn it into a huge deal.

Pink Panther,
I was not analysing the about incident but only enquiring as to who would be correct if Police were called in. If i was in that position and i knew that i could be wrong then i would prefer to keep my mouth shut than for the police to come and charge me.
Similar incidents have happened under my watchful eye. In another incident, a desi friend of mine had his car parking spot near a "Gora's" Basement window. This "Gora" was disturbed by the car starting at 6:30 am in the morning and so one day they got into an argument. The "Gora" said : Go back to your home country or change your parking spot" and the desi said "Who the hell are you to tell me to go back to my country or change to a new parking spot-complain to the super. and not to me". Luckily police were not called in.
It is better to know what to do in these situations.

Always show respect and courtesy to other person.
This will definately avoid any such problems.

If you start such conversations with a smile and soft polite words, trust me, you will get the same in return.

Well to be honest, if it just an argument between two people then I'm not sure the police can place blame on anyone...unless there has been an altercation of some type (physical). In trivial domestic matters like the one you describe above, it is better to "let it go" because these types of situations have the potential to become worse. Maybe someone else can shed light on what the police can do (if anything) when it comes down to insults and rude comments between people, although I'm pretty sure the police have other more urgent matters on their hands...

Ooh yea, I won't like cops getting into these matters. Cops get paid from our tax $s. Let them work on other high priority issues.

Why spend our tax $s on issus that you and me can easily avoid ?

Well said...calling the cops to these trivial matters wastes police time and our resources. Like you said also, just be courteous to people who are mad at you for some reason and they will feel silly being angry at you. This policy works extremely well in customer service issues also. There is nothing worse than dealing with a p***ed off customer and so when you are extra nice to them, they are taken aback with the politeness and realise that anger and rude words will get them nowhere.
