Praveen, are you talking about the gujju lady who served us or the south indian lady who recieved Blue lobster.

Now when you are saying that "the lady...is the best"...hmmm.....you mean servicewise or..............sorry, this is a family friendly board....no comments:cheers:

Udupi Palace is the wicked-est South Indian restaurant I've ever been to including India (Sagar, Defence Colony, New Delhi). I lovvvvve Udupi Palace. I'm yet to try out this Savarna Bhavan place, hopefully it'll be good coz its a long haul for me to drive to Gerrard from Brampton.

Peace!
Robin

Guys...finally went to Saravana Bhavana (SB) Sorry to pop your bubble folks but SB in Mississauga was not even COMPARABLE to Udupi Palace (UP). UP is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy better than SB in EVERYTHING that I tried.

For all you guys who totally loved SB, try going to UP. Here's the address and phone number:

Udupi Palace
1460 Gerrard St. E
Toronto, ON M4L 2A3
Tel #: (416) 405-8189.

You won't regret it! Sorry but people who live in 'Sauga would have to drive much more to get to UP as compared to SB. Trust me, you won't mind the drive once you've been to UP...

Peace out!
DJ Robin

I have tried Udupi in Eidson, N.J. and they were pretty good. Haven't tried them here on Gerrad, but will have to one day. It just seems so far from Mississauga.

I have been frequenting Sarvan Bhavan (once a week) for the past few weeks and have noticed the taste and texture of the food change a little bit. The sambar isn't as great as it used to be, I think they've started using local masalas :p.

Still its better than any other South Indian option I've tried in Toronto.

It will be nice if Udupi gives them some competition, I will certainly have to try them soon.

I went to udipi on the very first day of its opening and then itself decided to be a regular there. I like their special upma, dosas (onion especially)

servers there are very polite, know their manners, good spacious environment. total 9/10 from my side.

on the contrary, i tried madras dosa hut etc., waiting kills my apetite there :( food okey. but udipi.. you can get the same taste as in indian udipi hotels.

I am very sad to note people writing about Udupi Palace and Madras Dosa Hut . Somebody had mentioned about Dosa corner - a filthy place in the midst of ten barber shops next to the dirty wash room in newin food court in Dundas and Hurontorio.

I had been regularly visiting Saravana Bhavan in Huruntorio and eglinton at Mississauga Market Place, almost twice a week since they opened some time in October 2003. It is a long drive about 40 kms one way from my place. I tell you its worth visiting this restaurant if you really like authentic fresh South Indian food.

I normally see lot of Indians and Sri Lankans visiting this restaurant from as far as Waterloo, London , Burlington, and Hamilton.

I understand there will be more Branches of Saravana Bhavan in Toronto.
