it is better to be uneducated and never go to school than to be educated and waste money, time, energy and then whine about things!

Very true :( particularly if you don't have any Canadian experience :(

Nothing surprising. As I have stated previously this country is not for professionals but for ordinary mortals and failures who arrive here.
Immigration policy sucks by allowing evey body inside this country especially in ontario.
I have seen enough in this idiotic country. Where ever you go you see stupid and uncultured people.
Only 1 % of people are really cultured or have class and education.
This country is not for talented people.Look at quality of people here pathetic.

This a corrupt and rotten place for educated professionals.
For mediocre people its heaven as thats their limitation.

I totally totally agree with you my friend. This is country is not for educated people. Its only good for people who never went to school and are happy driving a truck or working in a factory as labourers.

I strongly disagree. There are a number of highly successful immigrants here, most of whom aren't even a part of this site. Second, in my own experience, I found my new job here as professional and demanding as (if not more) my last job in New Jersey. FYI - my boss here is from New York as well.

Sridharm - if, as you say, you already hold a very good job, why do you have to keep cribbing (I've seen a few other similar posts from you as well) and cursing this country and the people??? As Crenshaw mentioned, don't you contradict yourself here?

While it is true that GTA in particular has a number of unemployed or under-employed immigrants, it is no reason to generalize. If you don't like GTA, or don't find opportunities there to your liking, go somewhere else, like I did. Remember, Canada is not just the GTA!

We all have seen countless discussions on these topics.
In my analysis the frustration stems out of these reasons.

1. Not having a correct idea of the canadian job market and work culture

2. Thinking that the moment VISA is obtained , success has been achieved and all that is remains is to go to Canada and reap the fruits

3. Landing in GTA ( this is the root cause of many woes) Canada is not just GTA , they can think of Hamilton, Ottawa, Calgary , Windsor, etc...

4. THis is not the boom time of 1997 -2000 where most of the immigrants ( especially IT ) have got good jobs within short periods upon landing. This is a market which is ultra competitive and we need to run to stay in the same place

5. People are expecting things to happen . NO . WIth increasing number of immigrants ( more than a million have been added in the last 4-5 years ) we have to compete within ourselves, with canadians , and get the job and keep it . It is not easy and it is time taking.

6. The best thing I can suggest to any one with such frustrations/ feelings is that they should only come to Canada if they have a job offer , or atleast if they have a couple of interview offers based on their background . OR come over here and face the music as we all faced.

Its really good that v r living in the age of Information Technology and prospective Immigrants are getting better aware of what-to-expect and taking informed decisions unlike Immigrants say 10 years back .

People have started realising that Canada in most probability may not be the Western dream they have always dreamt of . I kind of agree with the critics as the place unfit for intellegensia. Where PhDs and High School passouts do the same job theres is certainly something amiss professionally . Any take why successful professionals back home -- IITs /IIMs / Doctors and now even IT guys stay away from Canadian dream ---- they are getting informed I conjecture .

However if u r nt a pro wizard and seek better living conditions the place may not disappoint u .

Manasvi.
