Communication Skills: Speaking, writing, listening, working, behaving, reacting in the Canadian way.
Nothing to feel bad about it, most of us desis do not have those skills, including me

What does this mean? Is there a special way of reacting in the canadian way? What is this "Canadian Way"?

If you have $ 200k to buy a house and another $100k in bank then you go to Canada confidently.
If you are thinking of working in Canada, making some savings and planning to send your 15 yr old to University sooner........then you must be day dreaming............
Chances of a 45+ person to succeed careerwise in Canada, especially in Technical profession which is restricted, is far from possible.
I would say you have a probability of 10 to 20 % to succeed.....UNLESS you have that SOFT SKILLS.............which means convincing the employer that you are not an alien........during interview.........
This is something WORDS cant explain..........you have to experience it.

Unfortunately, such skills are best embedded when one is brought up in the Canadian way. The older you get, the tougher it becomes to acquire / adopt such skills.
An example of what is considered inappropriate in Canadian workplace is staring at people, whether of the same sex or the other.
If someone smiles at you, return him / her an equal smile. And if the opposite sex smiles at you, dont brag or react about it in such a way as most of the desi's would do.
If someone says you are looking sexy, it does not necessarily have to do anything with "sex". Dont be offended or become protective.
And there is a lot more.............as deepcb said, some things cannot be put into words.
