However she is not 54 years.
Her first major movie was the Tamil Super hit 16 Vayathinile (1977) . Does it mean she was 13 when she acted opposite major heroes in this movie. Assuming she was atleast 17 or so, she is now (when she passed away) 58 or 59 yrs of age.

True. I also felt that way.
Moondru Mudichi came in 1979 or so. I was 8 then. Was she just 15 then. No way.
She is around 60.
