Any updates on New (4 Years) Rule for Citizenship?

They announced about this citizenship rule change back in June 2014 but it has not yet been implemented. One will have to stay in Canada for 4 out of 6 years to be eligible for Canadian citizenship. Any one knows when this new 4 years rule will be in effect?
I tried to find but could not find much info.
Please provide me link if you know this.

It was passed and it is not the law now, You will know why when you go through the rules. Passed on 19th June 2014.

While the new laws have been enacted, they have not yet come into force and will not be enforced for approximately one year. It is expected that they will come into effect in the spring or summer of 2015. Applicants can still apply under the previous citizenship criteria until an official pronouncement of the date that these new laws will become effective.

I have not heard anything more about it in recent days. I will keep searching my RSS feeds and other legal write ups.

Is this rule going to apply who already landed here two year ago as well or is going to apply for new applications 2015 and onwards??

Since nothing has been mentioned about the date on which they will make it effective from, I am of the opinion that who so ever is ready with their applications as of today, should file their CITIZENSHIP Application TODAY, to get the benefit of the THREE YEAR determination rule.

Normally they do not go backwards or determine the Citizenship rule to a period retroactively and ask people to follow the current rule.

But one thing that has to be remembered is, that the law was passed in the Parliament on the 19th of June 2014 and they have not mentioned the start date. The Governor General of Canada will normally do that in a speech addressing this issue. So, Please wait for such an announcement like every other person is currently doing.

If you have completed the THREE Years, why wait anymore? (I don't want to see a sad sack)

It is my humble opinion that they will still permit others who have LANDED here within Canada prior to ON/OR the 18th June 2014, will still get a chance at the THREE Year Rule. fh.

you are right FH, normally rules can not be apply backwards.....my parents landed two years ago and still needs one more year to complete citizenship requirements...

only the best option is right now is wait and watch:-)

I have a family member who will compete 3 years in September and they are hoping that the new rules don't come in to effect before they apply.
Let's see..
