And that's got nothing to do with being a super power or an economic power ...We are not discussing liberties here .... we are discussing economic strength ....... there s no connection ...

US and the world over cannot stop the progress of India & China unless they stop world trade ...... because as long as world trade is on ..... both these countries have a definite advantage and are looked upon as propellers of International growth ....

I don't think BL read this part .... how could the pollution have come down after so much increase in population and traffic ??? I think the Delhi Govt under Shiela Dixit deserves a big kudos ...changing all the public & commercial transport to CNG , introducing metros ..... every time I visit Delhi , I see new fly overs and roads and metro stations .

From what I have learnt about China , infrastructural growth and economic growth is much more .... That still does not mean that Chinese enjoy the same liberties that American do ....

Blue lobster: I admire your posts because they are well researched, unbiased and backed by facts. That said, you should stop trying to educate anyone on this forum- you just can't get your point across. You are talking to a bunch of near fanatical, emotional and "head in the sand" patriots. They prefer to hear great predictions about India, even if not backed by past performance, or current facts.

By the way, these "patriots" are the one who have chosen to eke a living in Canada, instead of serving their "motherland". Sheer hypocrisy!

Personally, I think it is a good thing as I'd rather have the world led by the US than China any day.

You have been raving all along about your convoluted logic of super power definition and beating around the bush with what you personally consider as a super power ......

So you consider US to be a TRUE superpower and all the other dummies / pack of cards and no one entitled to that title ..... The world has known USSR as a super power and is recognizing China as reaching there and also India being a tremendous economic power and certainly a rising one ... so your personal thoughts draw less credence .....

I don't consider US a super-power, it is one. :D Really, this needs no proof. And the USSR collapsed like a house of cards. That is a fact as well in case you missed it, at least most high school students know it. But hey, you can still consider it a super-power, the reality is it will still be a footnote when world history is written.

Looks like you have trouble either reading or comprehending posts (prolly both). I already said China is a rising power and India has made great economic progress in the past. Go back and read my posts. What I said is the economic progress in those countries is offset by lack of real progress within in many fundamental factors preventing them from being true world leaders.

Now, if you have been brought up in the school that bullying and leadership are the same thing, I cannot help you.

More importantly, if you would like China to lead the world instead of the
US, then you really need help, especially if you're thinking (?) as someone from India. This is the country that through proxy wars is engaged in destabilizing India, but that might be too complex for you to grasp. I re-iterate that I'd rather see US being a world leader than China any day simply because I prefer a system where I am free vs. China's communist system. But yes, I can acknowledge that you may not like these freedoms and unlike that blind guy who recently escaped, you may actually like the concept of perpetual house-arrest.

And what did your superpower do ....... bomb and destroy Iraq on a pretext of WMD which were never found ...... tch tch ...... Or kill much more people in Afghanistan under its sole definition of policing ... Or amass weapons in Pakistan which have been historically used against India ..... Or develop disturbing pockets in the world Or to serve its own ulterior motives as and when it has felt the need ....

When US needed Afghanistan against the Soviets ...Mujhadeens and Haqqanis were the most holy & pious of people and now they are the worst just because they do not serve US's purpose .....So much for your definition of a super power ...…

Surprise! The US has made many mistakes. It is not perfect. That said, there is currently no alternative that is better. And the key point is China is not even close to a viable alternative. You can pick China though, I have no issues.

Quote:

Like it or not -- USSR will go down as a super power in History for a majority of 20th century and like it or not China is emerging to be one and is most likely to be another one this century ............. away from your own concocted definition of what a super power is .....

Yes, fits your definition of bullying. Internally hollow though. And btw, the USSR has already "gone down", no future tense required there. :)

Quote:

Coming back to India and Delhi ... so you are comparing Delhi to Toronto ... traffic wise ...... hmmm ...... try pumping in Delhi's population in Toronto and despite being a rich country see the impact .....despite such a less population rush hour on 401 is a shame .... imaging what happens if the population is tenfold ......!!!!

Ah ok. Let's use an analogy since this also seems complex for you. Take a somewhat fit and an unhealthy overweight person. I'm saying kudos to that person for having a routine to keep fit. You're saying "Big deal. Make him fat and see how his health goes downhill. That justifies that the fat person is an equal". And you call my logic convoluted. (Btw, You personally chose to ditch the fat guy and be friends with the fit person)

Simply because they are both un related ...... economic growth.......... and internal situation of a country

I can only laugh at that logic. You might be confusing supermodel with a superpower. :D

Tell that to that blind Chinese guy who had to run away from the great economic superpower to the US recently. You can drone on all you like about no need to discuss liberties because you're living in a country that offers them. You might not be, I am VERY interested in discussing liberties. But yeah, I acknowledge that in your bullying-superpower definition, this does not matter.

First of all, "feeling" that pollution has gone down vs. looking at a scientific index that actually proves it are different things. Secondly, even if it has gone down, is the air quality good enough based on generally accepted scientific standards? It is not. I read last year, the pollution is now worse than Beijing, so there goes your population argument.

And what about this? Why is this happening in an "economic" giant? Along with a multitude of other problems no less...
