DIA you were ? That can happen in India only for one community (and it was for another community in the 1980's) ! And not surprisingly that community stands to benefit from a "Hindu fundamentalist" party not being in power.

no. i dont see her any different from any ordinary housewife of today. they do not speak big about desh bhakti or whatever. like it or not, they live with their husband, spend their lives with the husband once they made that big decision to marry him.

she did the same thing. for her husband she left her country and lived here. did not take him to italy but she came here and stayed here. you say she did not leave her italian citizenship. but she did not leave india either. right? on the other hand look at the desi bahu menaka gandhi!

when dragged into politics, she is no different from any widow of a indian politician. they or she know nothig about politics. someone drags them into picture. if this person like it or not.

after entering into politics, she lead that party to the win. when she distanced herself.. she maintained that distance. but when she made a decision to enter politics, she put her soul in it.

tell me how much desh bhakti do you find in other politicians? what is the scale to measure desh bhakti? everyone.. even people like you and me who give different reasons for leaving our country are talking about desh bhakti. at the same time ridiculing the decision of the people who lived in india and opted her leadership.

i do not judge anyone. because the moment i left my country, i feel myself with no right to talk about it. not just me.. anyone who did not vote in the election when they had a chance.. has no right to talk about the decision people made.

i question that hypocracy in people. when they question sonia's desh bhakti, i question these people's desh bhakti who did not take part in that election process.

i hope you still remember your social studies lessions in your school. vote is not just a right. its a duty for every indian eligible to vote.

Please go back to 1971... Do you know where Sonia Gandhi was ? She was in Italy with her hubby Rajiv Gandhi, while her mom-in-law was fighting a war ! So much for being an "Indian"...

As for Menaka Gandhi.. she had the guts to challenge Indira Gandhi. Think abt this; You pamper Sanjay and Menaka is whole heartedly in with her.. Then when Sanjay dies, you continue ur Dynastic politics and invite a reluctant Rajiv ! What do you expect from a "loyal" bahu ? Meek submission ? I dont think so.. Lil wonder Menaka was disowned by Indira.. 'cos she considered Menaka an obstacle in her plans to crown Rajiv as her heir apparent !

Ridiculing "ppl who made a decision back home". I heard that phrase repeatedly from you. As pointed in previoius posts, Congress emerged as the largest party, but did not win any majority. The mandate was fractured. Who says the people of India gave a verdict for Sonia Gandhi to rule India ? The vote, as agreed by analysts, was anti-incumbancy.. otherwise you dont expect Jayalalitha to lose, you dont expect Modi in Gujrat to lose and surprise surprise ..Chandrababu to lose. It was a clear case of anti-incumbancy and not Pro-congress..
Had it been a Congress wave.. They wouldnt have lost out in Karnataka ! And wonder of wonders.. Deve Gowda is coming back to power..

I see.. who gave you the idea that I didnt vote in the election ? Have you ever heard of postal ballots / absentee ballots ? I did that in 1999, this year couldnt do it, for logistical reasons ! Though I dont think it would have made a difference... Visakhapatnam was won by the Congress You think I am a citizen of Canada ? No way (at least not yet... though I think by the time it eventually comes I wont need it anymore )

the reason for menaka's fallout with indira is not politics. menaka was jealous of sonia for winning indira's heart. she wanted to humiliate indira so, joined with goenkas then wanted to go into advertising (remember towels ad?). i am not clear in that.. but from what i know, she apparently did few things just to humiliate indira. so much so that for a bahu!!

how many indians are there in india during 1971 war? how many were in war? how many politicians who were in india were in war? why single out sonia?? she or rajiv were not even in politics. they wanted a life away from politics or life of royals. they were living their life on his salary of a pilot. dont you think yours is a kind of hatred?? or what that shriman (or for that matter..i hope your parents were there..) what were they doing? by any chance fighting in the battlefield??

now you talk of anti-incumbancy because the losers here are BJP and winner is sonia?? i pity the people trying to find this kind of ridiculous logics!!

this election you did not vote in elections. right. khel khatam! what ever story/reason you give it makes us equal for obvious reasons. we both did not utilize the right when we were given

you expect your leaders to dedicate their life to india and its cause. right? but do you know that with his confession, vajpayee sent freedom fighters to jail? we excused him. how many of these BJP netas who make this hue n cry about sonia were there when india was in its testing times? you are okey with all them. dont let your hatred blind you from seeing facts.

we are not living in a ideal world. you show me one person you think is ideal i can show you tons of handicaps of them. looking a person under microscope and finding faults is very easy. that is what you are doing!

Whoa whoa whoa... Surayu, now you really amaze me. I guess you are slightly off balance with your history. But we cant expect much from Congress... (and their croonies of cos.) Thats why Vajpaye sent "freedom fighters to the jail" is the most often used retort against Vajpaye... other than that there doesnt seem to be anything against Vajpaye !

Wonder who dragged Kashmir to the UN (did I forget that name called Jawaharlal Nehru !) ..wonder who "actually thought India was wrong in the 1962 war" (which party...one party by the name of CPI.. ahem a party supporting the congress )

Why single out Sonia ? Thats cos Sonia proudly claims she is a Bharatvasi...so when you are not in India to fight the war... you cant be a Bharatvasi.. you are *ahem" called a Gaddar (draft-dodger etc. etc. ).. Even during the emergency she had taken refuge in the Italian embassy and only came out after mama-in-law asked her to.. Why do you shy away from these facts abt Sonia's life. ? Compare this with Vajpaye who was languishing in the jail.. (nice places indeed)

Do you want me to go on listing abt my dad's service when they were bombing Chittagong harbour aboard the INS VIkrant .. Guess you wont understand.. You are afterall... "Madame ke pujari" ..

With regards to Meneka and Sonia.. pls again check ur facts.. Meneka wanted to don the mantle of Sanjay but Indira refused it and instead gave it to Rajiv (the reluctant air force pilot)...

Well for finding faults with ppl. I agree with you. I love being judged by INDIANS and also love judging INDIANS who will rule my country... when I find that someone who has these qualities (aka Italian, whose parents were in fact party to the Fascists of Mussolini) , then I begin to wonder.. Is this the same party that Nehru, Vallabhai Patel were a part of...
As for a hatred..I made myself clear somewhere else.. I have a hatred towards certain ppl in this world..and I openly admit it. If you have read it then you will understand it ! In fact such ppl are reviled the world over ! (The Jihadis, the paedophile priests etc.)

Suryau.. I will conclude this discussion by making one comment... Arguing and debating is a healty process provided we stick to the point. You raised many points (e.g party that indulges in rapes and murders etc.) , I retorted back and you conveniently ignored that line of arguing... and many others...
Next time you choose to debate with someone make sure you argue with him/her on a specified point and dont keep shifting goal posts ! I have made myself clear here.

thanks for the piece of advice about argument.
I showed you every deshbhakti related rambling on sonia is not just unique to her. we can rise similar questions on anyone. that was my point.
same way when i said something negetive about BJP you countered telling something you think glaring about this side.
both are the same.
oops! no! the side i am in is the people of india's choice too!
