And they ate more and more of their "freedom fries" and got fatter and sicker.
While the French (who don't eat fries anyway) drank their wine, ate their chocolate and kept their waistlines.

Stop buying their products. Let them go bust!!!

This may be too late a reply, but how many of us are willing to do that? When it comes to bottomline (money), how many of us are willing to compromise? Will you buy your milk at 4.99 if a boycotted store sells milk at 3.99? How many businessman will stop serving Pakistani customers? How many businessman will stop advertising their product on the Moin Jamal show?

This may be an incorrect analogy, but forget Pakistan, how many Indians are even willing to boycott their own accused? Sanjay Dutt is still not acquitted in the 1993 bomb blast case, and people were already flocking to see "Khalnayak" in 1994. He has still maintained to evade prison time and his "Munnabhai" movies are one of the biggest grossers of all time.

How many people are willing to boycott Salman Khan movies until the verdict is reached in "Chinkara" killing and his car accident case? Will you stop watching Fardeen Khan movies until he stops his crack habit?Nadeem evaded the Indian police and is enjoying his life in London, and we made "Dhadkan" a superhit.

And Gulaam Ali, Mahendi Hasan, Nusarrat and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Nazia Hasan, Zeba Bakhtiar, Junoon, Jehangir Hasan, Kamal Khan- all owe big time to Indians for their career.

It is easy to get carried over in national fervour. It is tough to practice what you preach!!!

It is same like Americans who renamed the french fries to freedom fries after France's decision to not join Iraq war!!!

You are absolutely right. However we must keep reinforcing the message for all Indians. That way it can be internalised. We don't have to be embarassed about making intial adjustments. In due course it will become easy to think on those lines. World has changed beyond recognition in the last decade or so. We have to adapt to new ways or perish!

Every penny diverted to the jehadist(direct or indirect) is a voluntary payment of jiziya and one step closer to their dream of establishing a caliphate. I don't say a blanket ban on everybody, as that would go against dictats of Canada's Human Rights Tribunal and could be construed as profiling(correctly). ;) We can however isolate badmash elements and their supporters.

There are people dying for India for pittance of a salary. We wouldn't last even a single day in places like Siachen. Not everybody can become a mountaineer or a commando. Least we could do is economic blockade in our own little way. Even a modest effort at an individual level can be very potent in overall scheme of things.

Freedom fries is now back to being French fries. But American boycott of French wine and avoiding travel to France has played a role in leftist, America bashing French electing one of their most pro-US president in recent history.

This is an interesting read.

http://www.rediff.com/money/2008/dec/10mumterror-8-things-india-inc-govt-must-do-against-pakistan.htm

Though there are no concrete steps, it is however a very interesting article without any BS.

Interesting read .......

I recall Advani's remark in 2001 when US took Pak s assistance for their 'war on terror' ..... 'If they feel that the problem is the solution then what can I say ? '

Here is a follow up on his last article...with concrete steps :

http://www.rediff.com/money/2008/dec/11mumterror-12-steps-to-shock-and-awe-pak-economy.htm

I kinda like this guy's thinking - if only India can follow through on any of these ideas with a purpose.

Strictly IMHO, this article sounds more like writings of a fanatic teenager rather than an IIM professor. The steps he is saying may be correct, but not practical. Say for e.g. - Indian IT companies shouldn't invest in Pakistan. Wonder if from a business perspective, how much are ideals worth??

Quote:

Tell Brazil and Germany (currently planning to supply massive defense items to Pakistan) that it will impact their ability to invest in India. Tell Germany that retail license to Metro will be off and other existing projects will be in jeopardy.
......................
Tell American companies that for every 5% increase in FDI limit for them, their government needs to reduce equipping Pakistan by $5 billion.

And American companies will do what India says them because.....? And going by same token, those "middleman" who have facilitated the German contract won't be a happy person either

Quote:

Encourage and allow scientists/ academicians/ elites of Pakistan to opt for Indian passport

Love for motherland can never be bought. How many of us would work in CSIS and spy against India?? Or do any task that jeoparadises India in any way?

Quote:

If Pakistan is dismantled and the idea of Pakistan is gone, many of our domestic issues will also be sorted out

And what will exist there? A vacuum? It may happen as it says in Gujarati - You were trying to get a rid of a goat and a camel entered. You may end up with Afghan militants at your border

Quote:

Hopefully, this November attack will create a new vibrant India capable of taking care of its own interests.

Yes. That is what 100 crore Indians are hoping for
